Have no idea what the MC is thinking, but from where I sit I would really like to see Pickett make his debut against Carlton.
RFC recruited him for a purpose and it's my thinking that included the possibility/probability of him playing this year.
If he doesn't cut it against Carlton then he won't play this season in the seniors.

They did say at the time of recruiting Marlion that it was for the long term

Stack was not fitter when he made his debut than what Pickett is now, and Pickett isn't someone coming out of the u18s - he's a hardened player who has played finals footy at WAFL senior level and thrived.

He's also been at our club long enough (over 8 weeks now) to have learned our systems and has done a mini preseason.

His time is now.

I'm thinking it would be crazy to play him after 80% game time in 1 game at VFL level after almost 3 months out.

Might rub other players the wrong way too.

Prefer to see him a little more @ VFL level. If he dominates, then puts his hand up for selection.

Disagree.

Clearly looks like he has impressed his team mates enough.

They would be just as keen to see his skill set on display.

Bring it on.
Hope it happens this weekend.

Pickett will be fit. His finger injury will not have prevented him from maintaining a strong base.
Yes, he may not exactly be "match hard" but he must be tantalisingly close to selection.
Maybe the MC will be just as keen as we are to see what he can offer and bring to the team in these last few matches.
2017 showed that RFC is not adverse to selecting inexperienced players they believe to be in form and who have something to contribute to the team.
Pickett could just be the bit of X-factor the MC is wanting to add to the mix.

On reflection I reckon Sunday’s game is actually perfect for Pickett to have a run.

If it doesn’t work then we still have two games to keep refining our line up before finals, and the blues will be a tough enough slog to see how he goes.

Fact or crystal ball?

apologies to Gutful if he is privy to reliable info,

I got the vibe off Hardwick that Cotchin/Pickett/Ross will be eased in conservatively as they all need to be managed carefully due to their circumstances.

Suits me fine. IMO Pickett or Ross are the perfect cover for Cotch as both are hard at the ball and distribute well on the outside. Pickett is probably the most versatile of them.

I have Short, Baker and Ellis looking over their shoulders and have no qualms if they are slowly replaced by Cotchin, Ross and Pickett.

Stack takes Butlers spot this week.

Agree with your looking over the shoulder choices along with keeping Caddy honest, i still think Cadd's an important player though and showed reasonable signs in his new role, (didn't he have the 2nd most intercepts for us on weekend?).

Marlion is close.

If not this week, I wouldn't be surprised to see him take up a defensive spot next week against the Coasters small forwards.

I have a gut feel that they have him ear marked for something.
