Clearly he plays on ability but with the amount of footy he has missed he has to be down on touch, timing and match fitness, not to mention the cloud over his durability to hold up in hard finals games without proper conditioning.

I don't see a single cloud in our Captains sky.

20 deg next Sunday against the team who bathes in that weather. How's that for a change compared to yesterday.

It's not about Short or Cotchin though because Cotchin plays midfield and Short doesn't. Cotchin v Ross is more accurate.

I think playing him certainly has an element of risk, particularly when our depth is strong enough to bring in solid replacements like Ross.
Why can’t we have both?

Cannot believe the weather forecast for Sunday 20’ degrees with late showers.
It hasn’t been higher then 15’ degrees for nearly 2 months and the wind chill temperature over the last month has been in single figures.
Unbelievable

Who you dropping there Robert, out of interest?

I's tricky but there is a general consensus around BEllis, Baker, Short, Caddy and Chol as being vulnerable. Bolton also is on a few lists

I would typically have Houli in that list but both his ball retention and defensive work have been pretty solid now for a while.

If I went one ruck Caddy gets a game as the Grigg ruck. Assuming Chol stays (or is replaced by Balta or Soldo) then I would drop BEllis and Baker for Dusty and Cotchin.

I don't mind Short but he might go instead of Baker and either Baker or Stacky play half back. I like Stacky forward or mid though.

Whoever goes out will be stiff.

I sort of have a feeling they might roll the dice with Balta coming in for Chol...
Dunno if that's been given a handle yet so I'm going with Balta and the Nank...... take it to the BaNk..!

I dont understand how Soldo can ruck and Nank play around the ground?? Unless you are suggesting Nank play as a midfielder? Alongside Soldo? No chance.

Nank is an ok forward and ok around the ground, compared to others rucks. as a standalone forward he is poor. i hope we dont play them both.
agree. We need to win the rucks against west coast. winning the ball in the centre will create heaps of issues for them. Soldo, Martin & the Captain. Baker is playing better than Short. Bolton has had a couple of quite games (get him into the seconds to get his running game back). Hardwick did say "Rucks for courses", so I expect a change.

Not so sure about that. WCE rucks were Hickey and Oscar Allen on the weekend. Balta matches up well there, and can make sure (more than Soldo) that Allen isn't a threat if he drifts forward.

yeah Allen is only about Nathan Broad sized.

hes gonna be a player.

WCE are tall and we need to ensure we have coverage in the marking area of the game. On the ground we are good.
Bringing in just Dusty & Cotch I believe still exposes the Tiges a touch and need more height.
This is were Bolta I think will get a gig to play from the HB line. Played very good on the weekend and his speed & height might push Chol out.

In: Dusty, Cotch, Bolta
Out: Short, Chol, (Ellis or Ross)

Caddy's hardness is needed and important imo , can play fwd role with relieving ruck in that area. Hard call i feel between Ellis & Ross - maybe Ross might get the nod to play for better pace through the midfield rotations.

Sounds like a great day for a great contest. The drier conditions will suit our slick handball, foot skills and ground ball gets so we'll play better than the mistakes we saw vs the Blues. Yes, the Eagles will also like the dry ball so it should be a cracking game which we can win if we put enough pressure on their fwd 50 entries to reduce high ball easy marks by their giants. Similarly we can't rely on high balls towards Lynch & Riewoldt, who must be leading or McGovern & Hurn will destroy us. On Riewoldt he looked unsure what to do when the ball hit the deck last Sunday, needs to find some touch very quickly.

In: Dusty, Cotch, CCJ
Out: Chol, ???,???

Not sure if some saw how hard Ross was at it. His defensive side was brilliant including some crunching tackles and desperate lunges. There's no way unless sore he's getting dropped.

Gold Coast (SE - QLD).
I know Cotchin deserves the highest level of respect but I'm wondering if he is in our best side at the moment given the amount of footy he has missed?
I think Cotchin should go to half forward ASAP or he’ll only have 50 -75 games left at best.
To keep him
Out there I’d like to see him go linkman.
He does do Cotchin things very well but we can give that role to a young grunt soon.
Probably the reason why we recruit them.

Thought Crows did well on weekend avoiding McGv as much as they could. Kennedy also quiet. But yeah they are an incredible marking side. Hard to control all match. Nightmare is a Cox scenario.

Think Balta needs to come in to provide another tall option for their marking talls.
