I dont understand how Soldo can ruck and Nank play around the ground?? Unless you are suggesting Nank play as a midfielder? Alongside Soldo? No chance.

Nank is an ok forward and ok around the ground, compared to others rucks. as a standalone forward he is poor. i hope we dont play them both.

Was never suggesting Nank be a midfielder - that would be ridiculous!

I think Soldo in the ruck gives us more chance at winning the clearance at the center bounces.

The MC has a tough job working out where to play Nank if they both play.

Chol is obviously under the pump, but the conditions certainly haven't helped big men of late. All i know is a 3rd tall rotation down forward will help keep Mcgovern accountable.

so much the past few years has been about adaptation to play multiple positions.

Pickett = PLug n PLay

Back Middle Forward ready to go.

It's not about Short or Cotchin though because Cotchin plays midfield and Short doesn't. Cotchin v Ross is more accurate.

Clearly he plays on ability but with the amount of footy he has missed he has to be down on touch, timing and match fitness, not to mention the cloud over his durability to hold up in hard finals games without proper conditioning.

I think playing him certainly has an element of risk, particularly when our depth is strong enough to bring in solid replacements like Ross.

Blasphemus.

Every player grows a cm taller with Cotch next to them. He is our Spiritual Leader and sets the tone from the first bounce.

he was ordinary and Dimma hated the 100m penalty

the free wasn't there in the first place, but the two 50's were really dumb footy
I laughed after lip reading Dimmas response to that 100 metre penalty. Was a good call by Dimma

Agree, and hope no one suggests they could play as an extra tall defender. It's either of them not both. We lose too much forward/turnover pressure if Nank is playing as permanent forward.

And as another poster suggested we are only up againt Hickey/Allen.

It has to be either Choi or Balta - or something even more left field like Danny or Shai as second ruck.

I’d be ok if soldo rucked and Nankervis partnered up with lynch and Riewoldt as tall forwards.

Plus if we were under seige in a final and trying to protect a lead, imagine being able to send jack Riewoldt back into defence.
That would be amaze-balls.

Bit weird then that Carlton was the first game we've won the clearances since the Suns 5 games before that. And before that Hawthorn in Round 9. We have only won clearances in those 3 games this year but in most games it is quite close. I suspect clearances isn't our primary objective, of course it is important to win your fair share, but we put a higher emphasis on ensuring our structures are correct to pressure the opposition with the ball and win the secondary contested possession/clearance. ANd that's why it Nanks is so important and needs to be the first ruck, he is a far better pressure player in the contest than Soldo. Soldo gave it a red hot go but is nowhere near the pressure and skill level of Nanks in tight contests.

We are last for contested possessions in the comp. Interesting that dimma used to be big on contested possessions. We're not winning contests and not getting clearances but are equal flag favourites with WC who are 4th last in contested possessions. it's our defensive structures, our run, link up and handball game that are our main strengths

No matter who we drop or bring in, this game is the most important one for the year.

Win it and we are one of the favourites, lose it and we drop out of the 4 if the Mudpies win.

It is going to be a difficult game to win as WC are a great marking side and arguably have the best two forwards in Darling and Kennedy....for marking and kicking goals that is.

We can win it as it is at the G, where we shine but make no mistake this is going to be a cracker.

Not sure if some saw how hard Ross was at it. His defensive side was brilliant including some crunching tackles and desperate lunges. There's no way unless sore he's getting dropped.

Loved his big tackle on Cripps, took him down nice and hard!

Absolutely on the money, graystar.
As you say, it should be a real cracker of a contest. No side will wish to concede an inch.
Can't wait for the clash.
