Surely Adelaide pick up Dylan Stephens at 4?

If they do, does that mean Carlton essentially took Stocker over Stephens?

That could end as a Franklin < Tambling type legend

Stocker and Pick 9 vs Pick 4.

Yep perspective required Carlton has just extended Stocker for another 2 years and to have pick 9 they would be happy with their lot regardless of what other people think.

I agree Bullus is a very good poster and has a good eye for talent and knows what he is talking about but unfortunately there are too many people who post crap and take pot shots for his views and opinion.

This place is poorer for losing his opinion

I do agree that this place is worse off without him but Bullus really didn't respond well to people challenging his opinion.

To me it was obvious that he got his opinion on a lot of players through watching highlight packages and scouring through stats. There's nothing wrong with that as long as your honest about it.

A big part of watching the kids and putting time into analysis is acknowledging that you could be wrong and open to other people's opinions. Bullus struggled with that and often interpreted those things as a personal attack.

Still think that if we hold our picks and Dylan Williams is available then he's a high reward choice. Could be a slider based off his injures this season, but can break a game wide open, was co-captain at Oakleigh, and his form as a bottom ager when he moved to the forward line was elite. Could be the next Stevie J in how he plays the game

our Jack Higgins is already the next Stevie J so young Dylan will have to get in line :)

Higgo is a very smart footballer and a good player, Williams has the ability to break a game wide open in the space of 10mins, and I dont think Hig has that ability

IMO there is virtually no way we can improve our draft position in the first round especially with below clubs potentially looking to improve their draft position. Even if we packaged this years 1st and next years' 1st it's will virtually offering up pick 19 and what will be probably mid 20's with a significant number of top prospects next year tied to Academies and Father Son etc.
Maybe we might offer 39 & 40, (worth 875 points), for something mid 20's to early 30's if there is someone still on the boards that we really like, (we would need to sacrifice points in the process IMO).
No use fantasizing about Dylan Stephens, Deven Roberton and the like or getting a pick inside 10.

Gold Coast (with pick 15 and 20)
Brisbane (picks 16 and 21)
Geelong (picks 14 and 17)

Cannot see why those clubs would give up two early picks just to move up 4/5/6 places. Doesn't make sense to me. Gold Coast already have picks 1 and 2 so why spend two good picks to get one? Brisbane have a number of picks around 40/50 they could use with one of their first picks, they do not have to use the two top picks. Geelong have already indicated they are going to the draft with the picks they have.

Matt Balmer had a live blog today, (now finished) , if you are interested in his thoughts you can view here:

Below a couple that are Richmond related:

Matt Balmer | @MattBalmer7Mod replied Spide

Will Richmond look to bundle their numerous picks around Pick 40 to try and trade up the draft?

I don't think they will look to be too creative. Pickett and Stack show they don't need to get up the draft to pull in stars!

Matt Balmer | @MattBalmer7Mod replied M

Who do you think Richmond May be targeting at pick 20? Thanks

Trent Rivers and Hugo Ralphsmith would be two I think they might look at

Matt Balmer | @MattBalmer7Mod replied Rocco

Who do you think Richmond will look at with its first pick ?
Pick 19 isn't really an easy one. Guys like Miles Bergman, Will Day and Trent Rivers could suit. I reckon they'll look for a wingman/half back with some speed.

I didn't really mean that they had to give up both rather they have multiple options with their other picks in which to maneuver. Bottom line is I don't think we can was my point.
Geelong have so many picks they could still move any which way on draft night depending how the cards fall.

We can still be in play given we have a rep for being easy and fair to deal with. We also have this year's 1st and next year's plus the later picks.

Geelong from what I understand is not that keen to trade preferring to keep their position 14,17,24,35,93. Obviously that could change.

Trading with Port Adelaide may happen. They are looking at Mead who is predicted to go late 20s early 30s. Port have 12,18,29,66,67,68,71,86. If a bid does not come before their #29 comes up they might look to trade it If they use 29 and a bid on Mead comes soon after that they will not have enough points and would go into deficit on picks in 2020. So better they trade 29 to say us for 38 and 56.

I worry about these types, too many Mason Wood, Taylor Garner, Ben Lennon types. The pure medium forward is just about dead in the modern game. Unless you are convinced they can go into the midfield for 40% of games, they are almost obsolete.

There is a major flaw with what went on back then

* People that were challenging his opinion went way too far and needed to respect it was his opinion
*People that were challenging his opinion were not fit to carry his bags when it comes to junior footballers
* His opinion was not always correct but it was his opinion and we needed to respect this but unfortunately some here did not

The best outcome for Richmond to improve our position would be to trade with fremantle

* If Henry gets a bid at pick #9
2020 1st rounder + #38+#41+#56
with the agreement that we trade our 2019 1st rounder for their 2020 2nd rounder +3rd rounder after the Henry bid is matched

* If the Henry bid comes after #11
#22 for #38+#41+#56

* Hawks / Maginnes Bid
#30 for #38+#56 but that would only be appealing to the hawks if the bid comes in at pick #22 or better as our 2 picks cover the difference

In those trades we are getting reamed, give up 3 picks for 1 high pick? I can't really see us trading unless we are desperate for a certain player, personally like the picks we have, we get a slider at 19 & can pick for need with the next 3.
