do you have a daughter?
Yep n she'd belt anyone foolish enough to grab her bits without permission.

Tongue was firmly planted in cheek Brodders.

Trumpism seems to have been standard procedure for many former politicians in most countries over history though. He's just the most recent exponent of it.

They say the difference between a cult and religion is time. That's probably about right.

yep, its funny how people now accept pagan gods as myth but don't say the same thing about the god of the monotheistic religions. No doubt they will after enough time passes as more and more people accept it as *smile*.

I've taken an interest to watching how the whole Trump thing will play out. It's certainly cult like. Some are even advocating he's the chosen one. The evangelicals can't see past his pussy grabbing, charity cheating, vulgar and generally morally bankrupt ways. It's bloody bizarre as you'd think they'd be the most critical. I suspect things will get really bad over there before it improves.

I reckon Trump is trolling the world. he went for the presidency as a challenge to see if he could do it. he famously said 20 years ago that if he ever ran for president, it'll be the republican party because their supporters are idiots. I also suspect he is a fake christian. I can imagine him gloating about all of this when he eventually leaves office. his ego wouldnn't be able to contain it.

Def a fake christian. Then again I'd consider myself catholic but I've forgotten most of the stuff I learnt early doors at church. Compared to Islam (I live in Abu dhabi currently) they eat, live and breathe their teachings. They don't get how they know more about Mary and Jesus than I do.

No doubt and by the sound of things he's certainly setting himself up for business post presidency. That is if he doesn't end up in jail.

He's not waiting for post presidency.

“The president has turned the government of the United States into a money-making operation for his family, his friends and himself,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., a member of the House oversight committee. “This is a complete betrayal of the constitutional design.”

Meanwhile, the president’s business have sprouted new entanglements. Dozens of lobbyists and contractors still pay dues as members of his private clubs, and some have received favorable treatment from his administration. At least eight of his customers have been appointed to senior government roles. His companies have accepted payments from both the U.S. and foreign governments.

@sausage_meat69 I forgot about that classic! To think we're probably gonna have to listen to this looney for another 5 years!
The upside is we won 2 in his first 3..... Surely that means we snag 3 in his next 5:)

I'm an atheist - but imagine it gives a community for people - and if that community has strong leadership can be a force for good. Reverse is obviously true too.
Yeh, my mum is still a churchgoer. And her group does some volunteering and helps out those in need. It gives her comfort. Lots of good things about it.

But all that community spirit, volunteering etc can be done without the need for a religious attachment.

Just not being a *smile* puts you miles ahead of many churchgoers.

Public funds getting used for poorer health outcomes.

Public funding should be scrapped to these hospitals unless they agree to change their discriminatory ways, and the money diverted to other hospitals that will provide the proper care. The multi billion dollar industry that is the Catholic Church can step in and use their tax free money to replace that diverted taxpayer money

Agree. Same for any religious activity that receives government funding. Schools is another. But we need to be careful as politics is currently under siege from hardcore religious nutters who are winning pre-selection.

Yep. Can see it go the other way where there will be even more discrimination. And be legalised

Wonder how a stop religious funding party would fare.

Certainly get my vote.

Be pretty polarising.

For starters, to extra funding for any organisation that doesn't pay tax. That would include News Corp.

I think the late great George Carlin sums up religion better than anyone else.

There is a lot of truth in what all of you say about religious institutions being contracted to run public health services. However take Mercy, st Vincent’s and Calvary out of the public system at the moment then a system on its knees would grind to a halt. The only way would be for the state government to buy out the contracts with the hospital infrastructure included and that would be very expensive.
I would certainly support changing it in the future.
There are also significant tax benefits given to religious institution run private hospitals such as Cabrini, Epworth and the private arms of st Vincent’s and mercy which relate to the their charitable status that should go immediately as well.

I actually think religion will die a natural death, at least in Australia anyway.

There would be very few people under 40 who support it in any way and almost none under 20. They are already closing and selling off churches left right and centre, give it 50 years and they will be an irrelevance.
