Not just the scribes, Fagan and Scott were just as perplexed when we beat them in the finals as the stats showed they should have won.
Just imagine the scorelines if we had as many disposals etc as our opposition get most weeks. We'd slap them into oblivion week in week out.

I think the reason these idiots don't rate Martin as high as they might is that he is the complete antithesis of a flat-track bully.
When we play lesser sides, I really think Martin tends to take the night off. It's like, "I'm here if you need me boys, but let's get some serious game time into the new blokes."
But when the heat is on he's really on.
The club's first ever interstate final win against a team we didn't really put away at home the week before - six goals from 14 possessions thank you very much.
Two Grand Finals - Two Norm Smiths.
In the end, it's better for the team because it accelerates the development of the next generation of players at the expense of Martin filling his pockets against lower sides.
Ultimate team player, and it probably also is why we don't flog sides and boost our percentage. It's all about the management of the available resources.
Might also speak to the 2018 results. We were sweeping all before us and he struggled for motivation.
This is a very good point, during those early wins when the injuries hit Dusty's #'s weren't anything special, it was the new blood having an impact. as far as Finals go Dusty has shown he's the best big game player in the league by a long way.

"Everyone needs to see what it's like at Richmond, the way they train, get around eachother, the fun they have and the genuine care they show. I've seen nothing else like it, and they bring that to the game."

Who's your tip then David?

this is correct but i have not seen the eventual Premier written off so many times & by so many as we were last yr. I don't even reckon they understand the "bigger picture" in the early rounds of the season. they want to discuss who the contenders are even before the yr starts, no wonder they get it so wrong.

What about that peanut Barrett? Tipped against us in every final as well as the last 2 H&A games against Eagles and Brisbane.

He's a great judge  ; we won 12 in a row to finish the year :rotfl2

the real sad part was he like Healy still tipped West Coast to be premiers this year.
Hardwick hasn’t got a team that plays and wins in a conventional way, therefore stats at punt rd are useless.
Fagan spent QTR time going over the numbers not realising the damage was already done..

He's one of the bigger offenders for tripping over himself to write us off as quickly as he could.

If
Richmond can win the Flag without Rance...
Then
They are a bloody good team, Barrett get your head around that!

If
Richmond can win the Flag easily without Rance...
Then
They are a bloody good team, Barrett get your head around that!

This is just it tho, nobody has yet figured it out, we'll dominate until someone finally clicks.

DerWayne interviewing Shannon Hurn reckons they were the best team in it last year and should won it!

Fmd, I thought the best team in it actually won the flag.... didn’t make the top 4 last time I checked. ...

Not just the scribes, Fagan and Scott were just as perplexed when we beat them in the finals as the stats showed they should have won.

Makes it so much sweeter. And Fagan got a double dose, final round in Melb then Qualifying final.

After RD 23 he noted they won the disposals, uncontested poss, contested poss, I50, Free kicks, clearances, tackles.....and the tigers had more clangers. SO they really only lost because the scoreboard had them behind. Next time would be different though. I'm sure he left the G super confident they would turn it around, based on their "statistical" dominance. And again the next week they won Fagan's key stats - disposals, cont poss, uncont poss, I50, free kicks, contested marks, marks I50 and again they had less clangers. Lachie Neal had 37 disp. Hodge had 27. Yet they got pumped by 50+ points this time, this time after leading by 3 goals in first qtr?.

The commentary after the eagles win had us only coming back and winning after the rain and only just holding off an eagles comeback. In reality we adjusted and had equalised in the dry second quarter and only some very questionable free kicks close to goal kept them in it - notable were 2 against jack for ‘studs up’ (where is that old school pre eye roll emoticon when you need it mr t?) and a couple to their Rioli in front of goal. although it frustrates the hell out of me that the Ning nongs are so scewed in their ‘observations’ it is great for us to be constantly overlooked as contenders. We can just keep focussing on winning footy games with little fuss and let Geelong puff themselves up and put pressure on themselves. Pretty much every criticism has been wrong and they continue to laugh at our methods as flukey. Great. Long may it last.

Pretty sure he also said during the trade period that Geelong would have beaten Richmond if Hawkins played and then would have won the GF.

So Derwayne, there are 3 teams who should have won the GF hey? But not one of them is the team that actually won the GF; by 89 points no less??? And also won it's last 12 games of the year; most of them in a canter:rolleyes:

He is easily the biggest imbecile in the football industry. That is some achievement considering the field.

Such a pitiful excuse.

I'm pretty sure that we had no Rance.
Dusty copped a corkie in the first couple of minutes of the game.
Fridge played almost the entire game with one wing flappin in the breeze.
Cotch tweaked an ankle or calf first half n spent some time hobbling.
Broady got KO,d n finished the game in la la land on the bench.
The Moggies still had 22 fit players at games end n we'd conceded them a three n a half goal lead half way through the game. But the reason they lost was that the Tommyhawk didn't play.
Phhhhhht, *smile* ants all went n queued up in a crazy little conga line looking for some sweet sugar to celebrate with at half time instead of playing a whole game.
