Anyone remember big tex Walker and a couple of other players giving it to Nank after a goal in the second Q.
Wonder with Grigg or Nank gave it back in the 3rd
2nd quarter, in the 2017 GF? I think you mean the first quarter there mate. Remember, the 2nd quarter was Adelaide's best quarter all year . . . until . . . we kept them goalless in the Grand Final
That Hawthorn game set off alarm bells in me. Hawks were *smile* that year how they got to 4th I do not know. We didn't struggle but we were a 10 goal better side on the year but by late in season we had dropped away. I have just started reading Stronger and Bolder and Hardwick is quoted as saying the signs were there. Others saw the struggling wins as tapering and we just had to hit the switch ...
Yep, that was way too easy a QF for us. We played well in 2018 but were not playing even close to our best for at least a month before the finals. We just managed to keep winning. It is the sign of a good side that they can win when not playing well, but in 2018 it didn't help as the idea we could hit the switch and take it up a level becme harder each week we managed to fall over the line with a win. Then we hit Collingwood who were playing very well and pulled out a blinder in the PF. We didn't play well that night because Collingwood stopped us from doing so. Even if we were playing well they would have been a handful. The fact that we got within 20 points in the last quarter was a testament to how good we were in 2018, if we had won that game it would have been outright theft!
I'm sure everyone at Richmond knew we were winning without much form, but turning that around is a different prospect, they just couldn't get that form back. Having Hawthorn as our opponent in the 2018 QF was the worst thing that could have happened to us. Imagine trying to convince the players that they needed to play a whole lot better after easily winning the QF?
