It started because the umpire didn't signal the free. Simple really.

Had he signalled the free there would be no argument whatever the result.

The umpire starts the chain. He's in control of the game. It's his responsibility and he failed at it. What happens after that is a direct result of his *smile* up.

It's not that hard to understand unless you're fixated on blaming a richmond player for what happend.

This argument again. Watch the reply. Rayzor blows the whistle, calls free kick but doesn't say who the freekick is for. It;s incumbant on the umpire to clear signal a free kick. Cotch thought it was his, put his hands up for the ball, Houli threw it to him. Bang 50 for the man who could have won the Birdman Rally with his arms flapping dive.

I know you like to have a dig at us at every opportunity and feel it's your duty to correct us mere mortals, but the simple fact is Rayzor ****** up. Had he done his job and called who the free was for, I doubt Houli would have chucked it to Cotch, nor would have Cotch asked for it.
Nah. Cotch had the ball n Houli claimed it was his free so Cotch immediately threw it to him, probably hoping we could blast out of defence before the Moggies could set up their structures. It was probably one where Cotch should have done the slow down double check as to who's free it was. Just made it easy for Razor to impose himself n strut out the fifty.

Disgraceful umpiring decision in the first place and then doesn't signal who the free kicks for. Yep totally cotchins fault. FMD.

Richo really pisses me off sometimes. After the slo mo replay that clearly shows a dive by dangerfield, acknowledges the free kick.

That 50 was absolute bollocks, the umpire did not give any indication at all as to who was being awarded the free kick. The stupid maggot blew the whistle, made no signal and did not state who was getting the free. There is no way that should have been 50 because there is no way Cotchin knew who to toss the ball to, all he knew was that a (mystery) free kick had been awarded to someone on the ground. The fact that the same umpire got to officiate the GF is a disgrace.

We all know players milk frees, Dangerfield not only does this but is clearly proud of it. If that is what you respect then so be it, I don't respect such behaviour.

Hey David, I understand but not sure I’m with that argument. It’s the same one that had Rance torn to shreds and went close with Grimes. I don’t like these guys staging, but if they do I’m not sure it automatically means they’re rotten human beings. So to bring this discussion back to where it started, I’m not sure a bit of floppiness is reason enough for me to disrespect a guy who is, afterglow president of the players association. He’s respected by his peers, I certainly don’t know better than them.

This is about disrespected sports stars, I disrespect him as a sports star. That's disrespect, not doubting his ability, in fact that makes it worse for me as he doesn't need to dive. At least Rance was pushed in the back, he added mayo, Danger in the PF was bumped from the side, he made the mayo from scratch.

As a person? No idea. Although being head of the players' union makes him better in my eyes.

If Cotchin did not know why did he throw it to Houli?

because Bachar called for it, Bachar assumed it was his free kick

Yep and hardly a crime worthy of a gauranteed goal, considering what they let go all the time. Razor is a stain of an umpire and was waiting for something to happen so he could blow his whistle. Its not like the ball was kicked in the opposite direction it was a small handball sideways and remained in the area of the free kick.
Anyway we won the game and won the flag!!!!!!!!
Stick that up your arse razor, you attention seeking prat.

Might’ve expected Folau to get a vote or two. The NRL appears to have shot itself in the foot the same way CA did over Chris Gayle.

edit: RA, not NRL

Why the NRL - they arsed him off ages ago. Folau is a disgrace adn quite possibly the most hypocritical sportsman on the planet.

I agree, Hutstar.

I'm no fan of Dangerfield's public personality but all he did in that contest was exaggerate some contact in a marking contest when he was out of position and had no other options. Players do that in almost every marking contest all game, as I said Houli does much the same thing in the same contest.

By that logic we would have to judge Grimes very harshly for the week before as well. Exaggerating in a marking contest is miles behind taking a dive to get a free kick reversed in the staging stakes.

Yeah but it's not just that, is it.

Getting off topic sorry, but did anyone ever find out why lynch didn't get a 50 when Stewart wandered across the mark and set up camp? Was it just a blue by Ryan or was there some technical reason?

Jumper contained no hoops!

By the way, having looked at the incident a few times, Danger was shoved in the side, not back, totally a dive.

And, yes, Cotchin threw it to Houli as Houli asked for it. A mistake yes, but a mistake caused by the incompetence of the umpire not specifying who was being awarded the free, should not be 50m since the whole situation resulted from umpire incompetence. I've got a hint for you Chamberlain, when you award a free, you actually have to inform the players who is being awarded the free: basic I know, and one would have thought assumed knowledge for an umpire at AFL level, but it seems some are so dim they need to be reminded.

Hardly shot themselves in the foot, more like vindicated, he's a horrible human. In fact, he'd be my first vote getter.
