The Australian Government Department of Health website gives the daily updates which includes all states and territories showing the number of tests, how many positives and the percentages involved. It also shows the number of hospital admissions - currently 15 including 1 in ICU. Breakup is 9 in Vic, 5 in NSW and 1 in Qld.

10 Melbourne postcodes in lockdown from 11.59pm tomorrow. All in the northern, western and north western suburbs of Melbourne. I'd like to think this will help us contain the spread of the virus. However when I hear Daniel Andrews state that 929 people in Broadmeadows and Keilor Downs alone have refused a test that severely dims my hopes.
Who knows how many of those 929 people have the virus? Could be none, could be 929. Selfish people.

929...an absolute disgrace. Wouldn't be allowed in China, as much as I dislike that regime.
Of all the dumb things that have happened during this pandemic, this would rate somewhere between misusing herd immunity and being told to drink bleach.
I just got locked down - not an issue, I should be. But so should all of Victoria. My friend lives in Meadow Heights. He is completely surrounded by lockdown suburbs, but his suburb isn't. He's going to have to teleport around.
Meanwhile, being in the Broadie area, I can still go to work in the city, where I can go to a pub.

I'm surrounded by many of these suburbs (literally on the borderline of Niddrie) and was at Airport West Shoppingtown on the weekend. and I have to drive through Ascot Vale to get to work. oh and I have flights to Cairns in August that has zero chance of going ahead. 
I hear your frustration CT but I'm not sure it would be the right move to lock down all of Victoria. Regional VIC is hardly affected by this at all.
The plan from the beginning was to lock down early, prepare hospitals, and deal with outbreaks locally as they occur. Sounds like this is exactly what is happening.
Perhaps regional Vic could have been excluded. But the essentially random nitpicking of suburbs does nothing other than frustrate people and extend what will now be long term lockdown.
I too get the frustration but can't agree that it is random nitpicking of suburbs. It has been know for at least 2 weeks that these areas to be locked down are generating the overwhelming majority of cases. I'd imagine the decision is backed by science and data. Many suburbs and LGAs in Melbourne currently have zero active cases; can't see why those suburbs 20 plus kms away from the hot spots should be locked down as well. As long as they stay away from the hot spots.
Isn't is a good thing to try and contain the spread to those hot spots. If people who live in those areas can stay at home as much as they can for the lock down period and get tested then we may well get on top of this again.
Doesn't help when over 900 people from 2 suburbs alone refuse to be tested.
The selection is non random, but the effect is essentially random. Post codes are inherently arbitrary.
I would have even copped a giant ring around the hotspots.
Look at a map of these locked down suburbs and you'll see how ridiculous it is, plus about three weeks too late. There is huge transfer between these locked down suburbs, and the non locked down ones around them. You can tell by the way the hotspots themselves have spread.
Look at my old home suburb Coburg. It's somehow not locked down, while everything around it is.
They had their own outbreak just two weeks ago.
Amongst all of these, do we really think there's not going to be a handful of asymptomatic spreaders in suburbs like a Coburg, which will continue to move around like the pandemic is over?
This is a half measure. As I posted before we lifted restrictions in the first place, with viruses, close enough is not good enough.
