Won’t make it. Had 3 years to learn how to win a contested possession and still not any closer to one

One of my good mates is a very keen observer of the potential draftees and has had the slows on Naish ever since he first watched him. Nothing he has seen since he's been at Richmond has changed his mind. He's a pretty good judge.

Was a bit of a disaster. Deer in headlights at this level at the moment. No evasive tricks to create himself space. Didn’t get to use his pace at all. Didn’t win his own ball. Kept giving it away when she did get it.

I have to say I felt this way about Broad early days. With potential reduced list sizes next year he is up against it as you have to think development times will get compromised.

Harsh comments.

I think it shows how difficult it is for players who are not regular 22 to have the game conditioning required to just step into AFL at the moment.
Far harder than when they were playing VFL and get a call up for good form.

I hope he is not dropped after 1 game. He certainly has things to work on but has the necessary skills. I'm not giving up on him.

We are a football side, not a charity.
He goes out because we played a man short with him in the side, which was costly.
lt was a selection gamble that misfired and he doesn’t come back until he has genuinely earnt the right.

Wonder if the "when she did get it" was a typo or not? :)
Big difference between Broad and Naish in terms of how they attack the contest. Broad has always seemed like the tough half-back we need but Naish just seems a bit too nice for the ruthless game at this level. As someone else said, he is too much like Corey Ellis...nice kid, neat skills but you've got to have a bit of mongrel to go in hard and get the pill and composure when you've got it...or find another way to make a living. Reality check for him in the weeks ahead.

4 years on the list now, doesn’t auger well for him IMO.

Good player with ball in hand if given time and space. He probably suits the eagles style more than ours

There was an early bit of play in that West Coast game where his pressure was absolutely terrible and reminded me why we let Patrick go, he went on and played some ok bruise free footy after that, hope he goes well as he is a nice kid.

I still lie awake at night thinking of his muppet armed tackle gesture he made VS Gold Coast last year.

He is an extremely likable personality so would love to see him do well
