Now listen Kane you *smile* head. It's what is called incidental contact. He went for a mark and slightly misjudged it. Wasn't that far away in reality. Is he talking about Liam Ryan kicking a Richmond player in the back of the neck in an unrealistic marking attempt?

Listen to this as well Kane. *smile* off!
Kane also said the hawks were a big flag chance this year.

I think it's worth mentioning that Kennedy also misjudged the flight of the ball. Which is why he ended up turning back in to Balta's knee, making the hit worse.

This. Kennedy should be charged with careless, low impact contact to notorius's knee and fined $20.

Notorius appears to be a kind of superhero?

And we get to watch him toy with, maim and humiliate fullforwards from collingwood and geelong and essendon

Until probably 2030?

Our rucks certainly played well but actually thought he looked a bit flat, leg weary, as did a few others from WC. Which makes our performance even better after playing in Darwin last week. Don't forget WC only had a 4 day break, 20% less recovery than our 5 days which is significant.
Swings and roundabouts, tm.
We played in Darwin humidity.

Broad is being a bit forgotten here. Assume he steps straight back in for Grimes but is if DTLD comes back (after Grimes return) where does that leave Broad?

Amazing given I reckon this has been Broady's best year.

There's no doubting his tap ruck work is a thing of beauty. Outside of that he's just an ordinary ruckman

he's good with the ball on the deck, a bit like Mabs - his bulk and speed is impressive, becomes another mid a bit like Nank. But yeah, the hype is extreme.

Gerard Healy said OTC that he's the best ruckman he's seen since Simon Madden...
so obviously we are not very good judges.... or maybe Healy was whacked on the noggin far too many times by Barassi!

Btw @BrisTiger24 I'm glad you took my advice to LIFT. ;)

When Dustin got pinged for throwing one last night his response wasn't 'I handballed it', it was 'How could you see that?'.

I think that tells you everything you need to know about how all the players are approaching the game at the moment.

Really pleased with the game last night. All coming together on schedule again.

Confident Grimes will be at worst back for first final given the extra two weeks with the bye and the break after last round.

Be interested to hear from people at the ground on Graham as a defensive forward, a role he seems to play really well and McIntosh who I think was the one who went back to cover Grimes and played the role well. Also seemed like Riewoldt played defensively on McGovern?

Loved seeing the mojo on Dustin after the game, he has the sniff of big time footy and that means another level.

It's a nice thought to reflect on that performance and then remember Prestia, Edwards and Astbury are still to return and Nankervis and Houli are underloaded, with minimal minutes from Grimes.

Not convinced that's what Martin meant, I heard it too, but I could see an effort to get the fist to the ball, just couldn't see if he managed to handball. Anyway, fully justified in asking how the ump could see it, after all, they couldn't see the "tap" to Riewoldt in last year's QF. After that you would have to assume they are sight impaired!

We must have set up very well last night given the ineffectiveness of their intercept defenders. Just impossible to see this on the TV - they need to get better at choosing camera angles which show some of this.

Dustin Martin is an interesting one. He does really come across as someone who's sole goal is to win. All players want to win, but Martin seems a bit more obsessed, to the extent that, while he is committed to playing the starring role just because he can, that is less important than getting the team a win, even to the extent that he will sacrifice his own play to make the team better. He clearly understands that teams win games, not stars. Stars make a huge contribution, but they can't win a team game on their own - this is one of the factors which make him such a great player.
But I mainly responded to this post for the last sentence. Look at that line up of players out or just returning and still a bit rusty. The opposition should be very scared if we can get even some of them back. Geez, add Astbury down back, Prestia in the middle along with Shedda, wow, great additions to a team already showing it can play well. Bloody hard to see who can be dropped (although a couple of candidates, who would make any other team).

A valuable win, we're in this up to our necks and that's all you can really ask of the team. We are a contender. If we can finish top 4 we are in with a good shot.

I think you see in him the focus that comes with fulfilment as an individual.

He has a Brownlow, Norm Smith and arguably the best individual season ever and he also has premierships.

That allows him to attack the game with a clear mind and a level of satisfaction about where he sits as a champion. The contrast to guys like Dangerfield is stark.

BR, do you think he struggles for motivation in lesser games v inferior oppo? Particularly with no crowd?

Dusty's pressure last night was demonstrably better than I saw in the games v Norf/Dogs/Suns/Swans

The morning after the night before and if I was an opposition supporter I'd be thinking that Richmond seems to have timed their run into the business end of the season perfectly again. Bastards.

Stuff what opposition supporters think. We reckon we’re building beautifully for the pointy end of the season. How good does it feel after a win like that? First replay I’ll watch this year.

An armchair in Sydney
The half time siren revealed some telling images.

Just after it sounded the Tiges players were striding towards the tunnel.

Meanwhile Shuey and McGovin (spelling?) were on their haunches sucking in the big ones and gazing vacantly about themselves.

Great jobs by the mids, and by Jack R in particular to expose their lack of fitness.
