Couple of seasons ago, I've been banging on about it for quite some time. :help

You saved me a bit of frustration last night actually, I was not surprised by the ‘deliberate’ calls and expected almost all of them to be paid.

The only one I didn’t understand was the Bolton tackle, because I thought they were allowed to deliberately dispose over the boundary while being tackled, but now I’m reading that’s not the case - so the only frustration I did have came down to me not knowing the rule properly.

It would be better for everyone if commentators spoke about the rules correctly. They often default to pretending the losing team was robbed by the umpires (so they can validate the losing supporters’ irrational emotion in the moment) instead of calling the adjudication correctly. It’s very difficult for the average supporter to learn the rules by watching the games.

1973 ffs! Yes, Richmond and Carlton hated each other then on and off the field, but that was 47 yeas ago, Tim. Let it go!
How professional is our President , always measured with her comments, not a loudmouth media performer. Tim Lane has obviously forgotton about Vin Waite and others running around belting our little blokes eg: KB

he did the forward for "The Hafey Years" book & pretty much says it there too, which is fine as he says he's a Carlton person so it's to be expected anyway

Yeah, would be something wrong with him if he didn't.

I remember Tim Lane as a commentator, always a professional and never let any bias show.

To be honest, apart from the obviously parochial state based radio calls and the odd ex-player who trades off their club loyalty as a bit of a schtick, I don't think anyone really does.
I reckon Bruce does, in terms of, he has a story he barracks for while calling the games.

Couple of seasons ago, I've been banging on about it for quite some time. :help You have to have a legitimate other option for what you are doing with the ball that doesn't involve just not trying to cross the line.

I thought all of the deliberate decisions last night were correct and there was one late that was probably a miss against Port at half forward. The Hartlett one was different to the others because he did have a legitimate option in the form of a team mate standing there, but he put the ball so far over the line, and with such force, it was paid as a straight deliberate out of bounds.
Only issue I had with the deliberate calls on Friday was that it was the obvious rule of the week for the maggots. Media up in arms over a whole six deliberate calls when the years average is one call per game.
Problem was immediately rectified on Sat afternoon n the rule was dropped straight back into the bin for last nights game.

Leaves me wondering what rule of the week they're going to bring in for the Granny, maybe some sort of fancy no pressure allowed rule just so Dangerflog, little Gazza n the Geelol boys can win a bruise free flag to highlight their careers.

Spot on.
Carlton supporter: as we were once again so disappointing , the only joy I seek from this season is to see Gary Ablett holding up the cup.
Dogs supporter: I can still feel the emotion after our drought breaking flag and the outpouring of love for Bob , I want to relive that joy when Gary holds up the Cup.
Gold Coast: After forsaking a flag in 2011 to join us Gary took the lions share of our salary cap so we couldn't build a proper list, played for himself , provided nothing as skipper and then abandoned us just as there was light on the horizon, for his sacrifice he deserves another cup this Saturday.

the Premiership Cup engraver (must be a replacement local ) has been handed the two options to practice this week:

" Won by"

Richmond Football Club

Or

Patrick Dangerfield and Gary Ablett

Melbourne supporter: We haven't won a flag in 60 odd years, but nothing would warm my heart like seeing Ablett win a third.
