Anyone know whether we have Wa and Sa based recruiting staff, or if we have relocated anyone to watch the respective competitions?
Competitions are getting to the pointy end, should be a big focus.

Pretty shortsighted idea considering the” issues poor kid has had with concussion . Hope it turns out ok , not sure we need to be taking Punt on him

Don't forget Paddy's Type 1 diabetes issues as well

Fleas a type 1 diabetic too, he went ok :)) .

i highly doubt we’d even enquire on Paddy, however I just think his a better punt then a lot of these kids will be this season due to the lack of footy they’ve played, I’d imagine Paddy would cost next to nothing and be payed base wage

base wage

No way Paddy McCartin. IMO it is almost criminal negligence by the doctors and his parents to even let play footy again. Does everyone forget how bad he was 18 months ago. If he was my son there is no way he would be playing footy again. Life is more than chasing a Sherrin

Interesting podcast with Matt Clarke.

After watching his YouTube highlights, I'm all in on Elijah Hollands. Smooth moving, polished, big bodied midfielder. Exactly what we need. We'll have to package up players/trades/picks to get a top 10 pick to have a crack at him, but given it looks like we're not going to be using many picks anyway, perfect year to do it.

Many will have a better idea then me, however I believe if it wasn’t for him doing his ACL he was a big chance to be number 1 and wont get past pick 5 anyway

No. Ugle Hagen was always the best player in this draft.

So how many do you think we will delist? I would say not many and with reduced list sizes I think we will trade out of the first 2 rounds for future picks.
Maybe our first and second for North's second and third next year. Bearing in mind there is a lot of academy picks this year so the north picks next year might be higher than ours this year.
Take MRJ and up grade a rookie or two this draft. After all we already have Dow and RCD as first round recruits next year.

At a complete guess we,ll delist minimal, use our pick 18, upgrade a few of the rookies to the main list and draft a few new rookies.

Yeah I don't think we need too much. I'd be inclined to trade out 19, 32 and 55 and trade up. There are heaps of teams needing academy points so should be able to package them up and get something better. They all add up to about Pick 6, so somewhere around Pick 8-11 would be perfect. Then take MRJ with a late pick as expected and the rest will be rookies / re-rookies I reckon.

Need a few key position kids projects for Jack and defence etc and a nice half back flanker.

Just looking at the values and the Dogs predicament with JUH. Maybe they are the ones to trade with.

If Adelaide bid on JUH with Pick 1, its 3000 points of which they get a 20% discount so need 2400 points.

Dogs have picks 12 (1268) 36 (502) and 48 (302) for a total of 2072 points, a deficit of 328 points. They could take the deficit into next year which would come off their 1st next year, if they finished in the same position as this year, their Pick 12 would become Pick 20.

If we offered them our 3 picks that amount to 1739 points this would give them plenty to play with. In all reality they probably wouldn't need our Pick 55, so could just be 19 and 32 for Pick 12. In a normal draft probably not the best deal but bearing in mind we will find it tough to drop our list size as we seem to rate most of our players, then I'd think it makes sense.

Personally think we may only take 1 pick plus MRJ so our aim needs to be getting that 1st pick as high as possible. If MRJ is bid after Pick 55 we get to use our last pick in the draft on him. If before then, we can do the same and take a small deficit into next year as its unlikely he will be bid on in the 1st 50 from what I've seen.

Just to put some context around player names here.

We currently have 43 on the list (ie without Rance) and theory is that we will drop list sizes to 40. So we need to drop a net 3.

Out of contract players are Egg, English, Garthwaite, Houli, Markov, Miller, Pickett, Turner, Aarts and Broad.

If we bring in 2 (first pick and MRJ) then we need to lose 5 off our list. Its hard to see where we will release more than that, unless we get exceptional trade deals.

I'd think we probably release Egg, English, Garthwaite, Miller and 1 other which could be a trade with Markov, Broad and Pickett the likely names. I'd say we would prefer to keep Houli, Turner and Aarts.

Its difficult to see where we would make more chances than that, hence why I'm happy to give up "points" because we are unlikely to use them. Other alternative is to trade into the 2021 draft when we will likely use Houli and Jack to retirement.
