Scott's players looked tense and serious in the rooms at half-time. Were they analysing footage to reinforce tactics or something?

Meanwhile, Dimma's boys were interacting, looked refreshed and excited.

He's got a standup and tell the leaders I prefer you to whack the opposition when the going gets tough rather than flop or play for free kicks. It's not leadership it's taking the shortcut and demoralising if the other team is beating you playing the ball.

This is the problem right there. Selwood, while many on here will disagree, I think is probably their only player that fights and claws and does everything he can to drag his side over the line, yes he ducks his head but so do a few of ours, the one thing you can always count on is that he will put his head over the ball when it's his turn. Diverflog on the other hand is an out and out front running squib, as soon as it gets the tiniest bit hard he is nowhere to be seen and if the ball accidently lands in his little hidy hole, instead of trying to actually get an honest possession, he'll throw his body forward head back arms flailing trying to buy a freekick......*smile*. Media comparisons to Dusty are absolutely *smile* laughable, prick isn't fit to carry Dusty's bags

They need to change, not a lot, but they are not quite making it to the top so something must be slightly off.

Actually, the most obvious exemplar of their need to change was the recruiting of Josh Jenkins. Just could not understand why you would do that given the way he plays, such a front runner who goes missing when you need him most. They should analyse how that decision was made and the logic and process behind it because it is precisely that sort of decision which indicates what is wrong.

Geelong have been at or near the top for 10 years, they do a hell of a lot right. But they have fallen agonisingly close too often not to have a look at what they can do to take that final step.

What Scott needs to do, and look at Bucks for guidance on what not to do, is he needs a bit more humility but any change Scott makes to his demeanor and how he coaches must fit with his personality. He can't turn himself into anyone but Chris Scott, adapt, don't try and be someone you are not.

I like Duncan as a player but his celebration after kicking his goal was very "floggish"

I thought Duncan was their best player. Along with Stewart the only ones that really impacted in all 4 quarters.

Duncan is there barometer.
If the team is playing well, he seems to stand out but if things become hard and more involved, he is the first to fold.
Geelongs best players were Duncan menagola stewart.
But not for 4 qtrs.

I don't think so.

Agree, he looked genuine. He has been very salty for years but he can change, but the change needs to be to become a better version of himself. Given the consistent success of Geelong, there can't be far to go.

He hasn't got a team capable of beating us.
Unless he finds a 23yr old Judd and Kerr over the summer.
They will again be watching us hold the cup.
Boring and one dimensional game plan that gets burnt if pressure is put on it.
I reckon he regrets bagging us now, because he must feel like a dik losing to a side not as good as Stkilda or Collingwood of the late 2000's.

For the first time, he was complimentary. So I will acknowledge this. In fact his very last comment as he left the presser actually said something important, deep down i think he has finally understood he needed to change and be more dignified and gracious.

Damien's coaching is so underrated. The Balta move was important.
Scott made no moves.
To me it was like he was waving the white flag.
He picked a fight with Hardwick and Richmond and kept taking jabs at us for the past 3 years.
This is the game that broke him and he has surrendered the fight.
he can’t keep saying we are no good. Not good enough or geeelong are better.
We just served his arse on a plate.

I don't think he lost any ground as a quality coach last night, he didn't make many wrong moves. The main difference between being the winning coach and losing coach was who Dustin plays for.

Each to their own but I don't follow the need to enjoy a premiership by bagging the opposition. I'd wager that would be the last thought on any of our players or coaches minds.
Thing is TBR Premierships aren’t won in the coaches box on Grand Final day , there years in the making and Chris Scott ( very good coach imho) has had one of the best run clubs and most importantly the man with the reputation as young talent identifier at his disposal over 10 years of been head coach, however instead of continuing to ad and blood young talent he has chose to go down the top up with all blokes rout, they’ve missed the boat now I feel, he had the oppurtunity to have the list much better balanced but it’s gone now.

Not agreeing or disagreeing but did he actually do anything from the coaches box to change the flow of the game ?

I do.
He is a *smile* coach and has had full control of players coming in and he has failed again.
And he has a big mouth.
All we did was to shut it last night.
Hopefully they fall to the same fate Adelaide and GWS have copped after GF slappings

Each to their own indeed. But remember it was Scott who’s been throwing the barbs at Richmond in his own “inimitable style” and I didn’t see him be so magnanimous til last night.

Hard to say from the TV but I thought he had a pretty solid game.

Don't forget the path he has chosen saw his side in a winning position with two quarters to go in a preliminary final last year and in a winning position with two quarters to go in the Grand Final this year. Premierships are bloody hard to win and that's about as close as you get to a couple of them without actually winning. I can't see how we could question anything he has done based on the last two seasons, where he is clearly the best coach after Hardwick.
Agree there bloody hard to win, don’t agree his next best coach after Hardwick, I think thats daylight ;) And then you could throw a blanket over a stack of them . It’s easy to use is as an example in hindsight, however at the end of 2016 we let arguably our best player go and added 3 players with plenty of footy left ( oldest was 23 I think) point been we did something different , Scott has just plugged along to me and topped up with pensioners .

He must've thought Duncan and Hawkins were going to be the difference.
Clueless knob.

Game was slipping away in the 3rd and he left Danger forward, in the same boat Dusty would not have been sitting in the goal square doing stuff all, so I see that as a big blight on Scotts night.

An armchair in Sydney
*Snip* I doubt that is even his call, I suspect Dangerfield would have his own licence to decide where he plays, in the same way Dustin does.

I reckon too TBR.

Danger at half time seems to be the sort of bloke who rather than thinking how can the team win this and what is the best way I can contribute, instead thinks I can win this.

Keeps himself forward when he was desperately needed in the center, because he wanted the same media driven glory he got from the game against the Witches Hats in the prelim.

Has a history of going missing in high pressure games against the Tiges.
