Scott's presser was impressive for the kudos he gave RFC as a team, a club and an organisation.
But I guess he had nowhere to go after losing to the best team of the past four years.
To have stated that Richmond weren't/aren't in the same mould as Collingwood and St Kilda of 2009/2010 was just appalling and very disrespectful.
He has begrudgingly come to understand that Richmond is a great team and for to keep denying it would have only made him look more foolish and desperate.
Good on him for paying the compliments after losing the grand final (which would be a very difficult gig indeed) but he had already laid the foundation for people thinking poorly of him and his attitude to a superior team.

Duncan is there barometer.
If the team is playing well, he seems to stand out but if things become hard and more involved, he is the first to fold.
Geelongs best players were Duncan menagola stewart.
But not for 4 qtrs.

Just because you say something doesn't mean its true, usually with you its the opposite.

Duncan by quarter for disposals

Q1 - 8 - Rank 1 for Geelong
Q2 - 8 - Rank 1 for Geelong
Q3 - 5 - Rank 5 for Geelong
Q4 - 4 - Rank 3 for Geelong

He was their best over 4 quarters, I stand by that. Maybe more needs to be asked of the other when getting 4 touches in a quarter is top 3 for their club. I haven't seen the club stats but I'd guess disposals in the final quarter were massively in our favour.

Hard to say from the TV but I thought he had a pretty solid game.

Don't forget the path he has chosen saw his side in a winning position with two quarters to go in a preliminary final last year and in a winning position with two quarters to go in the Grand Final this year. Premierships are bloody hard to win and that's about as close as you get to a couple of them without actually winning. I can't see how we could question anything he has done based on the last two seasons, where he is clearly the best coach after Hardwick.

Big error in the third not playing Danger in mid much... but would he have made much difference? I think not. But first half he had them up and firing, they put the heat on us for two quarters.

Sums up the heartbreak of sport I reckon. Winners are satisfied and losers live the rest of their lives in an endless torture of 'what if'.

If being in a winning position in consecutive years at half time in a preliminary and a grand final is plugging along then coaching is a pretty tough school. On a mathematical probability at half time in those games he was likely closer to back to back flags than anyone even has been, apart from coaches who have actually won them, and he didn't win any. You'd feel a bit stiff.

I doubt that is even his call, I suspect Dangerfield would have his own licence to decide where he plays, in the same way Dustin does.

Fair point, had heard that somewhere too... but surely he could overrule if he had too.

Anyway, Scott may never win another premiership, but he's OK in my book. I used to love to hate him but I'm past that now.

I don't think he lost any ground as a quality coach last night, he didn't make many wrong moves. The main difference between being the winning coach and losing coach was who Dustin plays for.

Each to their own but I don't follow the need to enjoy a premiership by bagging the opposition. I'd wager that would be the last thought on any of our players or coaches minds.

He's still a salty flog in my eyes. *smile* him.

So, in other words, Dangerfield ran away from where the play was too hot for him and took a snooze down in their forward line?

It's still insincere and contrived though. It reminds me of Buckley trying to emulate Dimma, you can't pretend to be someone you're not. People can see through it.
Yep he tried to transform himself into some fake arse zen dojo master.

His salty puss will be back pre season don't worry same as Pope Figgie let the hat fall off a few times this year.

Dimma is the real deal, the others are fake manufactured made in china type replicas.

Whether it was the right or wrong move we'll never now but he will be forever questioned why he didn't put Danger on the ball when we got the momentum. He got very cagey when asked that at the presser.

**Sorry** saw someone posted the same before me. If it was Danger's decision to sit in the fwd (which Scott actually did make reference to in the presser), I'd ask who is the f*in coach!? That's even worse if true!

Who was he talking to when he broke down at his press conference and said “help me out”?

He paused in the presser when asked. It seemed to suggest Dangerflog decided himself to play forward. Scott put him in the midfield in the last.

Hmmm.
I think maybe too much has been made of the half time margins of 21 and 15 points. Not that much. Certainly in the case of 15, the losing team only needs the next goal and it's game on. And at half time there is a long way to go. St Kilda were infinitely closer to back-to-back in 2009-2010 and came away with zip.

I am unsure if its a reflection on Scott but Geelong only seem to have one gear - it either destroys you or it doesn't (sage I know), in which case its all over for Geelong. Four quarters of competitive football only happened from Brisbane (who were psyched to beat us) and Port.

Unfortunately I think Geelong will be there or thereabouts long after our premiership window has closed and our best have gone behind the scenes to woo the RFC Coterie. Sob! Still three or should I say four premierships will do quite nicely thank you while the window is open and 2021 looks ok for that.

Way too many threads and posts on here wasted on discussing the Salt Meister.

He's been an annoying little *smile* who's been constantly yapping away at us trying to claim some superiority over us despite the world seeing what was what.

Last night we finally shut him up for good.

I reckon too TBR.

Danger at half time seems to be the sort of bloke who rather than thinking how can the team win this and what is the best way I can contribute, instead thinks I can win this.

Keeps himself forward when he was desperately needed in the center, because he wanted the same media driven glory he got from the game against the Witches Hats in the prelim.

Has a history of going missing in high pressure games against the Tiges.
Either way Geellbong are *smile*. Next!

When he said "help me out" he was struggling to say more. He'd spent the previous few minutes saying how good we were, I cut him some slack. Imagine how you would feel as a losing coach after finally making the GF.

I thank the Richmond football club that I haven't had to experience that feeling in the last three grand finals we've made, 1982 was bad enough.

He might be a great hone and away coach but his finals record speaks for itself. It is very underwhelming
