Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

Yes we did, we got a future 2 rd pick in what is a bumper draft & a 4 pick upgrade

Anyway its done, you are welcome to let it keep you awake at night

True.

We are building a good record of doing what's right for players who leave and that helps us to attract players coming in. You can go the opposite way, the Dodoro way, and desperately try to "win" every trade - but your good players will still leave, look at Saad and Daniher.

We are a destination club and good players will come here if they can, players on the fringe may leave. That's how it works. 4th round picks are chook feed. And we have good trading relationships with clubs like St Kilda and Suns now.

Disappointed with what we got for him to be honest. I don't understand why we needed to give the 4th back. I was thinking the delay with the trade was likely something extra coming our way on top of the 2nd and the minor upgrade this year, but then we give a 4th.

Melbourne essentially got me out of Preuss than we did out of Higgins.
My point also Mr P.
Why give away a 4th at all. If anything, should be the other way.

Good luck to Higgo, the kid helped in the recent success we've had and due to circumstances he and the club have found themselves in he's off to another club.
Is the trade fair, probably not but it's not that far off for me to be worried.

The kid wanted to go so be it.We supported him through his illness and instead of buckling down work harder breake in our best 22 took the easy and weake option for me must have had little believe he could get in the side not the richmond way.

Moved up 4 picks and gained saints second rd 2021 I'm not convinced saints will do as well as this season to.

I have no doubts that the player we grab with Pick 17 won't be around until Pick 21.

You remind me of the boxer who enters, flashy entourage, loud doof-doof music. Bell goes, charges out, throws a flurry of haymakers. Then cops a few sharp jabs (translate to specific points). Retreats to his corner.

Still had to give a 4th back. Why? Saints have obtained two good to very good players from us to back their flag aims in '21. We have draft picks, which are just hypothetical speculations atm.

Sure, it's not drastic to lose him. But, as I have already posted, while we are in the window, I don't see why we have to give the Aints handouts. But I won't lose much sleep over it. But you can find the link to Dan Butler's 2020 highlights from TigertIm's post above.

No probs at all. Just got overs IMHO. We will probably draft another gun the way we are going. Reckon we are in the van for a WA defender now.

I think we are missing the point a bit here. He asked to leave (despite attempts I think, to being talked out of it). Once a player wants out I cannot see any point in keeping him against his will. There are plenty of examples of clubs playing hardball and it backfiring. I think we have made it abundantly clear in recent years that we will facilitate the movement of fringe players to get more opportunity - and that's what this is. Despite his troubles, I think he was nearing his ceiling. We effectively get a future 2nd and an upgrade or 4 spots for him; which is not too bad.
Agreed. I’m happy with this and also the fact that we don’t have someone on the list who doesn’t want to be at the club.

personal opinion is that the 4th is because we now have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds in 2021 ( 1st round, 2 x 2nd, 2 x 3rd) and would be unlikely to use it

I think it is way unders for an under contract first round draft pick. There is no point keeping players who don't want to be there though. I think it's a mistake by Jack to leave after three years and not fight for his place in the team.
I got a feeling he wanted to cash in. He doesn't know if or when this brain bleed stuff might strike again. At Richmond he would have to earn less for longer, regardless of how much or how well he plays. At the Saints he can cement himself and start earning better coin quicker. Added, he barracks for them as a kid, the romance and opportunity was all to tempting
