Could not have dreamed it would get this bad for the Pies. Their officials explanations are so incredulous that apparently even Joffa laughed them off. Treloar and Stephenson's stories making Bucks and the club look fairly cold, heartless. Whole industry is piling on Collingwood and Eddie is keeping quiet. Bucks decides Twitter is the best way to communicate out. Finally, the man they are probably making cap space for, D Gooey, has charges hanging over him and could realistically be found guilty which would stop him from playing.

Man I love the 2020 Pies

The timing doesn't even make sense. The WNBL season ends in early March before the AFL season even starts.
Plus wasn’t he being shopped around last year?
Treloar’s partner wasn’t playing nor had a contract?

Apparently she was going to play for Queensland last year but then fell pregnant and deferred the contract for a year.

He actually spoke quite well on SEN this afternoon.

Could have really spoken his mind, been bitter & angry , ill of Buckley and the club but didn’t.

Better man than me and I actually really feel for him and wish him well at the Dogs.

Here it is.

Things musty be pretty bad at Collingwood, their redneck supporters are refusing to believe the spin. They normally fall into line just like Trump's supporters do.:)

Membership will be the key though in 2021 on how upset they are and what they believe.

Yeah its absolutely awful spin.

Treloars wife goes and plays in Queensland of which the season is held in the AFL off season (finals in early March) so will have zero impact on Treloars season, sure he will need to go through pre-season without her but I'm sure thats possible.

So Guys story is, we asked Adam if because she was moving (from November to March) if he was planning on going to play in QLD from March to September.

- OK big hole in timing there Neddy

From then, Treloar took him saying no, but because he was asked the question then that meant he wasn't wanted so went and found someone else that would take him. So Guy is saying this was driven by Treloar NOT the club. So why did they take such *smile* compensation and also pay some of his salary???? Makes zero sense.

Its pretty obvious to all, and its very disingenuous to their supporters to claim this wasn't related to the salary cap and to push it all back on Treloar wanting to leave.
All valid. But can't help but feel that Ned Guy is the designated fall guy (see what I did there!) for the big shots that made all their SC decisions. They are avoiding the spotlight, sending him out to cop the storm of flak. Bucks on Twitter is not very brave!

Meanwhile Big Ed is keeping low, just trying to work out the best time to bone Ned as the scapegoat ... when it all calms down. Maybe Xmas Eve, Boxing Day or mid-January, I reckon.

My view is that no matter what you think of Treloar the way he has been treated by Fat Boy and Figgie is well beyond disgusting.
The fact that the AFL just watches this happen is even worse.
What I don’t get is that the AFL supposedly scrutinises all contracts to make sure that they fit under the salary cap and that clubs are not trying to get around the rules.

Then a club turns up with half on its contracts having deferred payments. How did they let it happen? Surely the AFL can recognise that a deferred wages payment is really just an advance against future salary caps?

Why do I even ask? Once they let Sydney pick up Franklin on a contract where they were going to pay half his salary after he should have retired, the other clubs weren’t going to miss out.

We are probably lucky that Rance retired early. Otherwise Lynch and Dusty May have left us in a similar position. Even then, it’s is one thing to get into this position because of Franklin or Dusty, quite another to get into it because of Mayne, Wells, Treloar, Reid, Stevenson and Phillips. That is serious next level incompetence.

Adam Treloar was left “broken-hearted” by his exit from Collingwood, but the club says it only happened because of his wife.

Collingwood has incredibly claimed Adam Treloar would still be playing for the Magpies in 2021 if his wife had not made the decision to continue her netball career in Queensland.

Treloar’s wife, Kim Ravaillion, is an Australian player who used to play for Collingwood’s netball team but took the 2020 season off to give birth to the couple’s daughter, Georgie.
She fielded offers from several clubs after making a decision to return to the sport before signing with the Queensland Firebirds.
It wasn’t an easy call given it would mean taking Georgie to live interstate away from Treloar, and prompted Collingwood to see if their 27-year-old midfielder, who was contracted on big money through the 2025 season, wanted to follow her north.
What followed was one of the messier exits a star player has had from an AFL club.

Treloar and Ravaillion’s names have been in headlines almost daily since and the saga – which included him being linked to the Gold Coast Suns for a time before being sent to the Western Bulldogs – didn’t end until the final day of the AFL Trade Period.
But to make matters worse Magpies list manager Ned Guy has claimed the club would not have even considered moving Treloar if Ravaillion hadn’t chosen to play for the Queensland Firebirds.
“We had some conversations with Adam and (his manager) Tim (Hazell) originally around whether his family was going to move to Queensland and whether he wanted to do that and it evolved from having that conversation to he thought he’d look at another opportunity,” Guy told Fox Footy.

Asked directly if Collingwood would have looked to trade Treloar if Ravaillion had chosen to continue her career in Victoria, Guy said: “That was the catalyst for the discussion. We wouldn’t have looked to have that discussion … it wouldn’t have evolved from that, I wouldn’t have thought, no.”
Guy’s statements – that Treloar “thought he’d look at another opportunity” and the Magpies weren’t considering trading him until his family situation changed – contrast with the snippets we’ve heard from the Treloar camp.

Treloar’s manager Tim Hazell said his client was disappointed “to get the tap on the shoulder”.
As the final day of the trade period began and Treloar’s future was still unsecured the Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph said “people close to him say that he is broken-hearted”.
After the Magpies sent him to the Dogs along with picks 26, 33 and 42 in the draft in exchange for pick 14, Treloar’s close friend and former GWS teammate Sam Darley tweeted: “One day all will be revealed but all I can say is Ads is one happy man to be a Western Bulldog but as much as it’s a business the way he was treated was embarrassing. Understand it’s a business but wow hope it’s all told one day.”
Treloar is scheduled to hold a press conference at Whitten Oval on Friday.
Obvious question is where were his partner and child while he's been living in the hub all this year?

If they were all together in the hub all year, then maybe the separation could have some anxiety effects on Trelol. If they already spent a large portion of this time apart then another season apart probably wouldn't have much effect. With skype n $900 thou to cover airfares for a few " dirty weekends with the cook " it surely should be easy enough to get through one season.

Could be that the AFL quietly warned Colonwood that they were running into a log jam of back ended contracts n they needed to urgently dump some contracts to avoid breaching in 2021. There's always a hundred permutations of what might possibly happen around the cap n list managers are usually smart enough to finesse things very carefully.
Perhaps Figgy n Eddie were stamping the feet n demanding they somehow keep everything they had n weren't sharing with anyone until such time as the *smile* went splatter.

Yeah, I can see that. Eddie and Buckley obviously run the place and everyone else just does as they are told. Always a recipe for disaster.

They ended up in a similar place to Essendon when they suddenly had to cut Blumfield, Heffernan and Caracella loose. Interesting that Caracella was the only one of the trio to continue to play well. Blumfield sooked it up and Heffernan was very ordinary in a weaker team.

Sadly for Treloar, he is going to have to work hard to get into the right headspace for next season.

Its clear that Lollingwood went "All In" on a Premiership after our success in 17. They then doubled down after just missing in 18. They loaded up with talent, back ended contracts and then pushed back their salary cap problems thinking that all would be forgiven if they could jag a Premiership in 19 or 20. What happened this week is the equivalent of going bust.

We have stuffed them, along with GWS and Adelaide. They are another club that just couldn't accept that we were better than them. Geelong will be the next one added to this list.

It makes up for that day they stole Raines and Cloke and sent us into a spiral of debt that we barely survived.

This week was a good week.

Not sure, ant.

Dunkley was pretty keen to get out. Sounds like the Hadfields and McCoys at the Dogs.

True, wonder what the backstory of that was... I just assumed the Dons were just throwing stupid money at him

Well that would be pretty poor on Dunkley's part, having years to run on a contract.

From what I've read he was unhappy with the culture and looking for more opportunity to play midfield. Still stuck in the culture and now with less opportunity a/c Treloar coming in.

Might be a good pickup for Tigers next year.
