Being old enough to remember the first internet browser and reading Tim Berners-Lee, I thought the internet would free information and bring knowledge, wisdom, education and justice for all. Looking back on my younger self I can only say

Same same. My organization was the first non education entity connected in Aus. Browsers weren't graphic at that point. I too thought the Internet would bring everyone untold knowledge. Who would've thought it would become a breeding ground for flat earthers.

Surely you are not serious.

It is like the people at work who put things online and claim it will save us time. Never does, just means we need double the staff to get half the work done as we wrangle the system to do something approximating what it was built to do.

You have *smile* systems.

You're telling me, they are so bad you start to wonder if it is on purpose.

I always think of the MyGov site and the tax return form. When I first logged into MyGov it took about an hour of getting thrown off the site, it crashed, all sorts of drama. Woeful. Then I went to do my tax return: lots of data already filled in, simple, quick, didn't crash. The tax return showed how these systems can actually be very good, but the good systems are very rare in my experience. I sit at home, working from home for the last 6 months, and send half my time fighting with utterly rubbish systems.

I always say: paper is compelling technology. If the online solution creates more work, takes longer and is too cumbersome then paper is better technology.

Things going from bad to cray-cray in the US. Rudy Guiliani humiliated himself in in court in PA where it looks certain that the suit will be thrown out tonight our time. The latest Georgia suit by the heavy-weight attorney Lin Woods was thrown out by a Trump appointed Republican judge ON THE FIRST DAY. Georgia will certify results tomorrow with MI and PA on Monday - BUT Trump has "invited" senior MI (I think, could be PA) GOP legislators to the WH for a chat... so who knows, it's still 2020.

In the meantime the batshit crazy Sidney Powell (Gen Flynn's attorney) has gone national at the WH "Team Trump" presser where she dropped the info that the dead Hugo Chavez and the socialists set up a plot with Soros and Dominion software to flip the votes and the real servers were found in Germany by the US Army and showed that Trump actually got 80% of the votes nationally and won 400 to 50 or something. Seriously. This is the official Trump campaign attorney. All the while Rudy's hair dye ran down his sweaty neck and he wiped boogers all over his face. I thought he couldn't top the Four Seasons Total Landscaping thing, but I was wrong. America's mayor. Sad.

If you are really interested (and I can't blame you if you are not) watch this 50 minute vid from a conservative constitutional lawyer who goes through all the scenarios of lawsuits, faithless electors, deadlock in congress, Trump doesn't leave the WH etc... basically the WORST case scenario is that Nancy Pelosi becomes the Acting President on Jan 20th. That won't happen. The only thing that can beat that is an actual hard coup where Trump-supporting generals put tanks on the streets, but that won't happen either. He's actually pretty funny, goes into the history and constitution in depth and has some good swearing as well.

Interesting part is during the Cold War they were afraid the Pres would get nuked, so set up contingency plans so whoever dies or is killed is replaced by the Speaker of the House, then the secretaries in order of age of the departments, so State, then Treasury, then Defence, and so on and so forth so ultimately you might have an Acting President who was Secretary for Parks and Recreation or something. Most recent Department is Homeland Affairs so they are last in line.

Surely the people around Trump know this is lost. Then again, some decent coin to be picked up while it drags on and they don't care about the impact on the people in the USA as long as their is some filthy lucre to be had.

I reckon the scary thing in all this is not that Biden won’t become President but that the irresponsible *smile* Drumpf is going to leave a legacy of a group of crazy gun toting people who will believe the garbage that is spoken about him being the true winner of the election.
I just wonder what some of these crazies will do.

I cant say i mix with too many Trump supporters, but the ones on here have gone quiet. Cant imagine why, Trump is only behaving in an entirely predictable and consistent way.
Some might even say he is the leader America needs.

Yes. Character matters. Even Nixon had more honour than this man.

So Rudy's PA case just got dismissed "with prejudice". That's not good for him. Key line from the judge - these plaintiffs could ask to have their votes recounted, but instead you are asking me to disenfranchise 7 million PA voters, which would be unconstitutional.

Team Trump are claiming they'll appeal, but its hard to see an appellate court agreeing with them in any way. I think this is just Rudy being Rudy. They could eventually appeal to SCOTUS, but SCOTUS has discretion about which cases they will take. Even the Republican dominated SCOTUS won't touch this stuff.

It needs to be a number that will reduce the risk of numpties finding each other and developing echo chambers for conspiracies and the like.

I love our umpiring/afl anti richmond conspiracy theorising

And our triple premiership echo chamber.

I dont think we should start letting numpties in though. Thats a slippery slope too far

Its funny tho, there are some posters that are great on the footy boards, but are numpties when it comes to politics/religion/race.
what do you do with them?

smile and wave.

if you let wrong people gain any traction in an echo chamber,

then it gets all wu-tangy.

each to their own echo chamber I say.

theres 36 of them, so nobody need be left out.

So Rudy's PA case just got dismissed "with prejudice".

I always wondered what the legal opposite of 'without prejudice' was.

stands to reason.

does it kind of tie into my 36 echo chambers theory above?

as in

'Rudy, I will see you in my chamber ........ sorry sunshine, I'm going to put this plainly. Your wrong, intellectually, morally, philosophically, legally, cognitively, spiritually, biologically, democratically, evolutionarily, socially, culturally, wrong. Wrong. you are are not right in any respect whatsoever, and essentially, this is retrospective. It goes back to the womb. anyone who has ever insinuated, intimated, overtly or covertly suggested, that you are right, is wrong. I am prejudice against you. your a *smile* now and forever'
