Whenever I see his name I have to rehash my RFC social club story. ...

Week after the 80 GF ... queued up, half cut, after midnight ,waiting to get in and along comes Darryl.... strolls to the front of the line in expectation of a rolled gold entry only to be told to *smile* off and wait ya turn.
He then pulls the ...... "Don't you know who I am.....!"
Unfortunately not.... much mirth amongst those of us who did.

Soon after when Aussie Crawl released Errol and it was on at the social club we'd always sing....
Ohhhhh Darryl .... we would give everything. ... not to be like you!
All these years later I wish to apologize to Darryl.... well sort of. It was bloody funny at the time :)
Daryl came from my junior club Essex Heights, as did Bruce Tempany. Bruce's dad use to be my coach, Mike Green's mum was my grade 6 teacher, Greg Strachan my optometrist after he retired, and the Ghost was my local video shop guy for a while.

Remember on the ground after the final siren in 1980, he looked a bit sheepish. Probably thinking what the hell am I doing here with legends like KB and St Francis. But good on him, he's a Richmond premiership player.

These are great stories! In years gone by, the fans had greater connection to the players then, hence, all these great events. I feel these days, they (the players) are more protected and reserved, to gather unusual stories you will need to be well connected some what?

I’m sure it’s on this site somewhere that the only reason he played was because of something the late Denis Collins did leading up to the grand final. Can’t remember what it was however

It will be exciting to see the RFC team selection at some time next season (maybe firstly for the dreamtime game) with the full forward line reading;
Rioli Lynch Rioli

Maybe the club could bring Cyril Rioli (and perhaps a couple of other Rioli family members) down from the NT to be a guest for the match.

Missed a mid week appointment with club psychologist. TJ gave him the flick for the blood nut.

Denis told the coach he couldn’t make a meeting because he had to take his girlfriend to the movies.
True story.

Massively instrumental in KB's seventh goal. :D

I can't help but notice the after match celebrations. Just look at the way he was "included" compared to the young players now.

(If you can't be bothered, I'll tell you: It's much better now.)

True story.
I hope his girlfriend at the time is now his wife and they have a bunch of kids and are blissfully happy.
Huge sacrifice if she was just a fling at the time.

Another thing on Daryl Freame, he won the following premierships for the Tiges:

1975 U19s
1977 Reserves
1980 Seniors

That's got to be a rare feat. @LeeToRainesToRoach would you know if anyone else have achieved this back in the day when there was U19s, Ressies, and Seniors?
