Apparently Stacky has a pre season fitness clause in his contract that financially rewards him for turning up in good condition ( which means he meets certain benchmarks) .
If that hasn’t motivated him, he probably won’t make it

He may not make it but I think we need to remember that a player called D.Martin did the same thing by turning up unfit to preseason training early in his career.
Personally I am very much in favour of letting the fitness and development guys deal with him and we will see what happens. The lack of anything concrete coming from the club and the media makes me think they are.

Reckon some are over reacting with Stack's current condition.

Stack began last pre season in similar poor form, but gained conditioning during the pre season.

I've watched the rd1 game vs Carlton a couple of times and Stack looked fit and sharp, and was ready to take on 2020. Then COVID hit and his form dropped away considerably.

He's young and at this stage of his career his conditioning seems to drop away quickly when he's off the track and it takes him a while to gain it back. The gap will shorten with more preseasons and experience. Got faith in our conditioning guys to sort out Sydney's fitness.

Not making excuses for him or anyone in particular ,

But I wonder how many guys when covid hit , lost their routine/motivation to train with the belief that the season is unlikely to go ahead , then got completely caught out being out of shape when it did .......... oh *smile* we are playing now ?

Sill nothing in the press about Stack and the WA press in particular would love to stick the boot in so I'm betting he's simply had to come back to Perth due to a family issue.

I'm just glad we still haven't got Stengle as well.
Always amazes me that someone would throw away a $300-$400K/yr gig and all the trimmings that come with it. Tyson will never earn this kind of coin again. Three incidents in a year says he's gone I'd reckon.

I have no idea...just a wild guess. My point remains, even at $175k he's not going to land a high paying gig like that after the AFL. Put in 10 years of hard slog and set yourself up. Then you can get on the gear :D

Yep can’t believe all these young footballers aren’t Trent Cotchin clones , dedicated, disciplined , investing there money sensibly in blue chip shares, dieting like a supermodel , not going out/hanging with there non AFL mates and been typical young men with cash in there pocket.

id imagine with time an maturity a great percentage of the lads who don’t make the most of there opportunity will regret not taking there chance but hey how many times have you heard , could have, would have ......as I say to most , ya didn’t

Yes, when I saw Stack flew out from the Gold Coast hub into Adelaide with CCJ after Kebabgate, I thought, 'Oh No! I hope he's not going to be catching up with old mate, Stenga!'
Imagine if Stengle was still with the Tigers together with Stack in the hub. Doesn't bear thinking about.

Yes, strike 3 for Tyson. Can't see him coming back from there. Offences all in such a close time period too. Looks incredibly immature and lacking in self-discipline sadly. Maybe some addiction and self-esteem issues too? But throwing away the opportunity of a lifetime quite possibly.

Hoping Syd doesn't go down the same path. From another angle, no-one seems to have speculated that the new girlfriend may be a key factor here. A WA girl on Freo's AFLW list. Don't see SS as one who is that much into 'delayed gratification' myself. Not sure long distance romance would be his thing (or hers?)
