Amazing the speed of the Big Tech deplatforming of Trump and his supporters. Who is really in charge of the US? Gives some credence to his claims about the election. All that was required was a plausible reason to excuse such behaviour and everyone fell in line.

I know right. You would have thought they would have let him use their platforms to incite at least a couple more riots before taking action.

This censorship talk is all a bit funny really. Pretty sure there is a press room in the Whitehouse and if Donny wanted to talk to the people, every camera crew from around the world would be clamouring to get in there.

Like every other president has in the past.

BLM did more or less the same thing. They received nothing but praise. A suspension would have had the same effect.

But it’s not just Twitter. It’s PayPal suspending the accounts of those who paid to bus people to the rallies. Its other companies who have threatened that anyone who employs a former member of the Trump administration will be run out of business. It’s pulling the plug on Parler (a billion dollar concern) due to the fact that conservatives had migrated there to escape censorship.

But it’s OK fine because it’s supports my political predispositions. Surely you have to question the amount of power these companies have?

If you seriously think the BLM protests and Wednesday events are more or less the same thing, then I understand why you think the actions of many companies and individuals at the moment is purely political.

But the reaction you are seeing is because what happened Wednesday is so far removed from what the BLM protests were. When you can realise just what Wednesday was, you'll be able to understand why the companies are doing what they are doing.

BLM were violent riots where property was damaged people died and which forced the president to shelter in a bunker from memory.

The MAGA riot was a disorganised invasion of the capital building were property was damaged and some died.

What is the difference? Not much. It’s in the mind of the media. And more importantly the minds of those with their hands on the levers of corporate power.

Paypal is suspending the accounts of those who funded an attempted coup, the plug is being pulled on Parler because its being used to plan violent insurrections.

BLM were a protest that turned violent the 'MAGA riot' was an attempted coup. if you don't see it as that then your mind is closed to what actually happened.

Are you serious about a coup? Lead by a guy dressed up as a Shaman? ROFL. It’s really the least probable interpretation of what occurred. It was a hare-brained, disorganised attempt by a vocal few to rattle the cage of the legislators who were confirming Biden. There were people with automatic weapons present and members of the police who colluded with them (seemingly) to allow them into the building. If it was a coup it should have succeeded!

The rhetoric about an insurrection was just a convenient excuse to do what is now being done. Fueled by the media of course. There is a great deal of power concentrated in the hands of very few and I not talking about Harris & Biden.

You really need to read a bit more widely than newscorp publications.

Nice, love the way you framed BLM as violent but the insurrection on Capitol Hill as disorganised.

I read the Washington Post, NYT, Atlantic, Age and SMH online. All news Corp publications are paywalled. Their versions of events don’t make much sense to me. The journalists are all terrified of being cancelled if they don’t follow the correct narrative.

I have a lot of problems with big corporations and big tech and the slimy nexus between them and governments, but banning Trump from Twitter is simply not a problem. He infringed their terms of service repeatedly and got away with it for years and years.

I have no problem with AWS refusing to host Parler as well. If Parler can find a provider or do it themselves, good luck to them.
