I have never been on twitter, facebook, Instagram and the like. It's a shame that they condone dishonesty, it explains why the world is in such a mess.

Only about 20 years ago, you only really heard complete drivelling hateful bull crap

1. Riding in a taxi
2. dwelling to long at the bar,
3. if you were getting your house painted and the painters had John Laws on the radio,
4. If you paused too long after saying hello to your looney old aunty who loved Joh Bjeilke Peterson, at a wedding or a funeral.
5. At Victoria park, or
6. if you sat in the wrong spot at smoko

Now days it permeates everything.

I agree, the internet was supposed to be the end of paper and take democratic participation into every mans (sic) home.

But instead, it amplifies lies and *smile* and hate. I even have a strip of 2 inch duct tape across the bottom of my TV screen so I don't have to read the twitter feed on Q&A, or during the cricket. I dont want to see the inane, banal insights of the every man (sic). I dont want the boring, looney old aunty in my lounge room.

My only social media presence is PRE, and I've blocked the main actors (their numbers are very few) on the hateful bull crap stage,

which is the modern day equivalent of sitting with the tolerant, wise old fellas at smoko, and if one of the bitter, hateful blokes happens along, you go to the dunny for a *smile*.

Crazy isn't how so many people read Trump's statements as incitement to violence. Absolute poppycock. Trump really has sent people nuts.

Once again I point to the irony of your apparent libertarian beliefs and your implied support of an authoritarian leader.

I wonder if anyone has thought to ask: if it was so clear Trump was inciting a violent coup on Twitter and at his rally, where were the police?

They clearly didn't take it seriously and maybe didn't take into account the inside support:

It wasn't a coup in the traditional sense - as Trump used his usual strategy of throwing *smile* at the wall and seeing what happens. Any competent dictator gets a couple of factions of the police and military on board first and then takes over the tv stations and Capitol Hill. Trump sicced his minions on and wanted to see what would happen. Insiders say he wanted to see blood and mayhem, and then expected the masses and the military to rise up on his behalf.

I said it a couple of days ago but if you read his speech he was clearly trying to get the police and military to join them.

for balance,

I'm going to post some lefty bull crap (yes, there plenty of it, its just way, way less harmful than righty bull crap).

this can't be true, and if it is, is irrelevant.

and if this effort to create some cognitive dissonance and moral echo outrage is true, its scavenged from under low ceiling of the far left hand end of the bell curve. As if 97.5% of trump followers dont exist happily on corndogs and Pepsi

I wonder if anyone has thought to ask: if it was so clear that Trump was not inciting a violent coup on Twitter and at his rally, why did all those Trump fans march up the hill and try to initiate a violent coup?
People suffering from TDS have thought to ask that. Those not suffering from TDS understand they didn’t initiate a violent coup. They went to voice their displeasure with the political class and a lot went too far. Some morons thought it was a big joke and went dressed like clowns for selfie opportunities.

Yes, he did. But like I say, competent would-be dictators do a deal with the military first. Trump fails at even being a coup instigator.

To be clear, it wasn't a coup because Trump is too half-assed to organise it properly. He tried by clearing out the leadership at the Pentagon, but the military's top echelons despise him, as do the intel services. He definitely tried to instigate insurrection, again in a pathetic, half-assed way.

Trump is the epitome of crony capitalism which should be abhorrent to you as a Libertarian, yet you never say a word against him. I wonder why.

100% agree. 20 years ago, we were far more tolerant, and hate was generally in the closet. Now the opposite is true because these people have been enabled thanks to the rise of the alt-right.

Your TDS gives you amnesia. Read page 64 of this thread. I remember you defending him on his Syria attacks when I was criticising him. Like I’ve said there’s not much to add to the pile on that goes on here. He is a narcissistic statist just like most of the political class, he just doesn’t bother to hide his true nature like the in crowd does. For some reason this sends people nuts. I mean Biden approved the Iraq war, shouldn’t that make him unacceptable to you?

I know he's not for everyone but the latest friendly jordies video referenced Jack Goldstone who has worked for previous US administrations working on predictive models of the likelihood of civil war, this article was written in July but it references his model from 10 years ago that was uncannily accurate:

TDS amnesia? Nah that's just old age G :)
He is a war criminal and an economic stooge. He got sucked into a false flag in Syria and murdered a high profile leader of a foreign country. His handling of Iran and the nuclear deal are a disgrace. His tariff policies are complete folly and the debt has racked up even more. About the only good thing he brings is comedy value, although I’ll give him credit for pulling out of Paris.
This post on p64? You replied to Lee, not me. Possibly I referred elsewhere to Syria/Ashad/Trump? Trump's complicity with the Ashad regime, ceding the country effectively to Russian influence is well-known.

Take your point that you were critical of Trump for being a "statist" so that is a critique. Actually he's not. He's all about himself and how much money he can make - the tools of state are just one means to this end for him. Again, as a Libertarian, I think you should be far harsher on Trump for this.

I believe our Syria discussion was on the terrorist thread. Point is I’m no Trump fan, far from it. But I’m not a fan of him for the same reasons I’m not a fan of the vast majority of politicians. Most criticisms of Trump on this thread miss the mark. If this thread was full of Pro Trump types instead of pro Bernie types then you would be accusing me of supporting the democrats.

So if it was on the Syria thread, say that.

Most criticisms of Trump here do not come from a Libertarian perspective, but that does not make them wrong. This is the problem with a "one-true-way" approach - anything that is not that, is wrong. All you can say is "he's the same as the rest" or "he's a statist". Clearly he's different to most politicians, and above all else he is a mercenary, corrupt, crony capitalist.

The Trump diehards on here Lee, Djev, the mysterious blofeld, Tiger-Harley-Guy have never accused you of being pro-Dem so that's way off as well.

I believe its internet amplification of the far right.

they've always been there, and they always will.

but they used to have to wear white hoods and meet by flaming torch light under bridges.

now the *smile* write half the worlds newsfeed.

and ordinary peoples brains are going mushy under the weight of the complete *smile* burrowing in through their eyes.

Take as an example, the term 'woke'

specifically, it refers to a dawning on black Americans of why and how they are disadvantaged.

less specifically, it refers to a calibration of the moral compass.

But far right amplification of bull crap has appropriated it and redefined it as a pretty pissweak insult, as if your moral compass pointing in directions other than North, is a good thing.

to the point, were a non-nasty, ordinary person, will call you 'woke' if you give a homeless person $2

Mass Democracy I'm calling it. it's a by-product of mass culture, mass information, etc..
like Ezy is saying: the brain receives an info overload, and some of these brains aren't meant to receive certain info let alone an overload...
it speeds things up when things ought to be slowing down - and the morons in the press, and in power, enable this ..
it's really dangerous territory, humanity needs to be very careful, ... full of care ...
