If they’d won, the narrative would be how ‘brave’ Paddy played on through injury. No mention is made of how Houli played most of the game carrying an injury.

Funny how the narrative has changed, last yr he was playing fwd to "bamboozle the Tiges" (despite having tried that in the H&A game last yr) now he was playing there because he was injured...
Yes. Commentators were creaming themselves after his amazing game up forward against the swans.
Guaranteed to give the Tigers a headache.
plays forward against us and fails. Commentators complain saying he should have been playing midfield

Pretty much sums up the journos/commentators who write about footy. To say their analysis is shallow would be to pay them a huge compliment.

Even when he went into the midfield he was useless.
The only times i noticed him was the miskick that lead to baker kicking it to Riewodlt and the mistackle on dusty.
Besides that all i saw from him was diving forward at every opportunity to get a free kick.
He isnt as good as the media make him out to be.
Im pretty sure even Geelong supporters realise that now.

Selwood is finished. So slow.
I was rapt he was playing.
Dangerfield in the midfield works into the favour of the Oppostion.

Just putting the obvious media bias aside for a moment, it's pretty big news that the best player in one of our key rivals is on an individual program at this stage of preparation.

Tough ask to produce in season off the back of that sort of training load.
Especially one the Clubs seems to view as the saviour, especially thier fans

For a player of his standing/reputation in the game his performance was embarrassing.

It's beyond that now.
I can't see how they can use him to promote the games against us ever again.
He is totally useless every time he plays against us.
The media *smile* in his pocket too which makes it even harder to accept.
Geelong will cop the Richmond GF curse and capitulate this season.

Another Dangerfield story
Did he get the injury after sniffing Dusty's jocks?
Poor Danger, went the full clench shuffling off the ground after the game n strained something important.

Reckon the Flossy one should buy himself a long board n then see if Clench wants to go surfing one day. Could then drop in on him from a great height with a huge farking plank, just for fun.

Most of them don’t analyse. They just change with the wind, depending on what happened most recently.

The Mongrel Punt writer never misses a chance to slap him right up the face either. Does not rate him at all. Would have thought he was a tiger fan but keeps explaining he is a hawk fan.

There’s a few writers for it. I thought one of them was a Geelong supporter. They’re able to for the most put aside their bias’ and write about the actual game, which is something no football journalist does now.

There is very little analysis, they all wait for someone on breakfast radio to come up with a rule change idea then jump on the bandwagon via an opinion piece. For such a wide ranging industry there is very little variety

Bit of a whisper that things aren’t all that great amongst sections of the Cats playing group.

Fair bit of friction between some senior players after a review of the grand final loss.

Story is that one senior player voiced a strong opinion about the selection of Gary Ablett in the team, and got taken to task by a couple of others.

Hope it's telling that this is in the Clangerfield thread and not the general Cats thread.....

I reckon there would also be a bit of discontent between the young players who missed out on playing finals this year and the older players they bought in. There is only so much you can bring to the table as a young recruit thinking your turn will come, only to see the club bring in 3 geriatrics that take the place of those retirees.

Edit - I forgot, there are no young players coming through at the fattery. :)

They are born to lose.
They had a bloke capable of kicking cricket scores for 10 years and they couldn't win one.
Now they rely on a bloke that feeds off the shiit sides. The media pump him up for him to either get suspended or just play crap.
Did Selwood mentioned to the group he couldn't break into a jog after half time?
Did Rohan mention that he never plays well in finals?
Did Henderson and Stanley mention they are 2 of the most ordinary players in the comp.
Did Touvey mention that he is a shocking one on one defender?
Back it in. No one recovers after losing to us in a GF. They will struggle to make the 8, won't make top 4.
The only reason they will play finals is because of the wins they will get playing down at shittpark.
