Wasn’t aware that Port had such a favourable draw. After losing a prelim by a kick, they don’t play any of the top five sides twice. That isn’t how the fixture is supposed to work!

St.Kilda on the other hand cops Richmond, Geelong, Port and West Coast twice. On paper that is ridiculously tough.

Gee, even Gil (a St Kilda fan) has it in for his hapless dwarf-burners.

Since Port Adelaide entered the AFL in 1997 we have played them in 32 H&A games. 21 of those games (65%o_Oo_O) have been played at Port's home ground in Adelaide. 10 have been played at our home ground in Melbourne (only 6 at the Go_Oo_O) and one of them was a game we sold to play in Darwin.

That is an absolutely ridiculous disparity in a national competition. No wonder they have a reasonably good overall record against us (including finals 19 wins, 14 losses, one draw).

Yet we have to play them exclusively in Adelaide again this year:rolleyes:. That'll make it 22 out of 33.
Can anyone give us a percentage of home v away games against the other interstate clubs?

Massive anomalies playing away to Pordadalayde n St. Kiddenme. Massive bonus playing Hawforn at home, but they'd be basically neutral games now as they play the G instead of Waverly as a home ground.

There's some clear bias on display from the AFL there.

We have higher home game percentages against all the biggest MCG drawing clubs (Carl, Coll, Ess, Haw, Melb) and low percentages against the poor clubs (St Kilda, North, Geel, WB).

We get more home games against the highest Victorian supported interstate side in Brisbane.

We make the hardest road trip in football less than half the time.

It's pretty clear the AFL is conspiring to provide us with a financial and other advantages over the rest of the competition.
It's obviously a reflection of our fixture requests. That's not to say there haven't been examples of blatant favouritism, e.g. the decade 2000-2009 where we were allotted fewer MCG home games than Hawthorn, while Hawthorn also played 24 home games in Tasmania.

Watching the Port final for the first time since.

I thought at the time that we weren't only up against the crowd but also the commentators.

I can't believe the extent of the one sided commentary.

Makes it all the sweeter.

The last 10 minutes Port were trying for free kicks every second they got.
Boak lead the charge trying to milk a free.
I reckon they could be worse then Geelong, but no one is worst the Selwood, but Boak is up there

Martin, Cotchin, Edwards, Prestia, Bolton, Lambert

2 Brownlows, 3 Norm smiths, 17 premierships . 3 of them are AA and Prestia should have been in 2019
Problem with the media is they are still look at the players or groups of players on a talent basis only. They look at stats and figures and it blinds them to what makes a good player great. The Bont and WB midfield mates are great on paper, but when they are out on the grass, with the pressure dialed up, they are nowhere! CD has no ability to provide a stat for mental tuffness! Our boys 99% of the time are calm and composed and that is why this current Tiger group are the Champs! Until other teams have what we have between the ears, we will keep winning!

Yes. Didn’t someone say this time last year that the Collingwood midfield was the greatest midfield ever ?

I watched it the other night for the first time in a while as well. The commentary is horrendously biased. Especially McAvaney. Remember how Ladhams punched Balta in the balls and there was conjecture about him being reported and potentially missing the GF if they made it? In the last quarter he kicks a goal to tighten the margin and Bruce absolutely creams himself.

“He’s playing next week! He’s playing next week!!”

Bruce is an embarrassment these days and should retire.

Yep. A midfield that looks fancy on paper racking up stats, or a proven multiple premiership winning midfield that gets the job done. I know which one I prefer to have.
( unless I’m only interested in supercoach or dream team competitions)
