Feels like getting finals tickets all over again.

I'm hopefully going to be in the Premiership Circle area, I'll be wearing my PRE t-shirt for anyone who'd like to say hello :)

Roaming Tiger member, no sign of an email yet.

They texted me last week about my email address, the address they have is correct and I texted them back about this but there seems to be some issue.

Thanks for the heads up, I will ring them if nothing turns up soon.

Any other Roaming Tiger members here, have you received an email?

Got the same email for Premiership Circle (Punt Road Member)

  • Premiership Circle members will receive priority access to their usual seating area. Once at capacity, remaining members will be allocated a ticket as close as possible to their usual member area.
  • We plan to share the opportunity to sit within your normal reserved area as best we can throughout the season. For example, if there is 50% crowd capacity for the entire season you will get to sit in your normal reserved seat area roughly 50% of the time if you enter the ballot each week.
  • Premiership Circle members members can only enter the ballot with members of the same membership type

I must say I am totally confused (doesnt take much these days).

So I'll register with my partner as both in the Premiership Circle.

Are they saying if we don't get balloted in the normal area (let's say for this example, there are 700 Premiership Circle Members and at 50% capacity we will have access to 350 seats) then they will still allocate us a ticket as close as possible or could end up top level of SS

Looks like this is a standard line of communication in every type of reserved seat / reserved area membership.

So If I go in the ballot, but cant sit in my area, they will find me another seat - OR - after that allocation is done, every other available seat I just go in a ballot for like a GF ?

Must say the communication is not that clear for me. I also read that members with out a reserved seat or GA may have a tough time ?

I just rang the club as I had problems getting into the digital membership portal. All fixed but asked a few questions about the ticketing while I was there. Being a platinum general admission member with an MRC membership I hadn’t received any email regarding the ticketing. As someone mentioned earlier the Maurice Rioli Club membership means nothing in regards to home and away games as does being platinum. Reserved seat members go into a ballot. General admission is basically first in first served once they know how many spectators the government allows. She couldn’t tell me a ball park figure on how many might be available for general admission

At the end of the day everyone has to be accountable given contact tracing. Who even knows if standing room will exist, or you will have a circle to stand in so they know that person x stood there on x date. I would be thinking those without a reserved seat or general admission may struggle. Fully ticketed events this year for sure hence why the whole 'not transferrable is so important'

Other thing to consider is those that will go in the ballots but not attend for whatever reason. I remember the club used to send you a thank you email after it got the ticketing reports saying my barcode swiped in to the G on a certain date. I know things come up late like work and family emergencies on match day or the train from gippsland is not running. Will be interesting to see if the club looks at those who are successful and dont attend on more than one occasion like they do in big sporting clubs overseas.

Part of me hates all this crap, but part of me can't wait to be back at the footy. I mean like most, I paid my membership in full last year and for this year. Even at times with Covid when I wasnt getting work, i didnt ask for anything back from the club, so I hope those in the same bag are looked after somehow in the future.

If the AFL can get to 75% of crowds that would be tremendous.

My email turned up this afternoon, we'll see how we go.

The big quandary is how many people will be allowed to attend. Surely with the low number of cases and the vaccine starting to come online we can get at least 50% in and hopefully more.

Reserved seat members will get priority in the ballot. I would estimate 80-90% will be successful based on a 50% MCG capacity. its my understanding that only a very small amount of tix will be put aside for GA members.

I reckon they have zero chance of getting 75% capacity. however, I reckon they are pushing 75% in the hope of negotiating to 60-65%.

And to be honest with you, 60% might be enough to give a ticket to any person who wants one. based on what i have witnessed at live sporting events since the resumption of live sport in Melbourne, the interest isn’t as high as you would think for a city that had no live sport for 9-10 months. People are still a little spooked by COVID and a bit hesitant to attend events with crowds.

I read the info a bit differently, Ian. I interpret it as, assuming the ground capacity is 50%, 50% of each reserved seating area will get a ticket from the ballot, and if you miss out you'll have priority the next week.

I'm not sure about any ballot for GA tickets (away team members have to be considered too) or if Reserved Seat members who miss out in their area can go in the GA ballot - there is a FAQ page on the Membership site for Reserved Seating, but not for General Admission. Here is a bit about the ballot:

For reserved seat and reserved bay members (including 3121 and Club XIII), opportunity to access tickets and attend match day will need to be done via a weekly ballot specific to each membership product. Given the size of our membership base, our priority will be to ensure as many members as possible have the opportunity to attend as many games as they wish in their usual seating areas.

"Please note, we will communicate the outcome of each ballot prior to the General Admission on-sale to ensure any reserved seat/reserved bay member who is unsuccessful in the ballot has the opportunity to redeem a ticket during the General Admission on-sale (currently TBC) should they wish."

Reserved seat members looks like get 2 cracks at tickets. One in the ballot for their reserved seat and they can also join the GA ballot.

So logged into my Ticketmaster account and read all the information under Match Day Access

Few things to note;

Under Match Day Access - Reserved Seat Ballot

Reserved Seat Ballot goes through all the scenarios on how to register etc. Makes no real mention of the email communications about once at capacity remaining members will allocated a ticket as close to their membership area.

As mrposhman said Please note, we will communicate the outcome of each ballot prior to the General Admission on-sale to ensure any reserved seat/reserved bay member who is unsuccessful in the ballot has the opportunity to redeem a ticket during the General Admission on-sale (currently TBC) should they wish.

Under Match Day - General Admission On Sale

Access to Round 1 ticketing for General Admission members is currently TBC and will be determined once the venue capacity has been determined. Regardless of capacity, there will be opportunity for General Admission members to attend. We will communicate to all General Admission members via email so please ensure your email is up to date

Under Match Day - General Public

Given the size of our membership base, we anticipate our Round 1 Season Opener clash vs Carlton (Thursday, March 18) to be a member only crowd.

Food for thought.

About 8k? ...
Somewhere in the back of my brainbox 6.5k is rattling around. .. Tried to find the list the AFL put out during the 2019 finals when the possibility of us v the superfilth was a very big chance and those of us who are AFL members were getting a tad nervous!
Anyway, can't find it and will just have to sit and wait for D day.... whenever that is!

I think they're being unrealistic, but they might be able to push it up to perhaps 60,000? I think the issue is getting people in and out of the stadium safely
I reckon the tennis has helped the cause , like how much covid cases evolved from that , fa that’s what . Open the G to the people
