Came out of quarantine and being a keen golfer was pleasantly surprised when my kids wanted to watch a golf show on TV.

Regretted it after 10 minutes of the worst crap that has ever gone to air on Australian TV. If that is the level of intellect and appeal in this country we may as well give up.

It actually made me hope ScoMo upsets China to the point where they nuke us and we can reset.
I assume you’re talking about Holey Moley. Looks appalling.

The Perry Mason origin story (Foxtel in Australia) is pretty good, at least IMO. People who liked the original Perry Mason tend to hate it, but I never watched the original so took it at face value. Perry is an investigator working for lawyer EB, (John Lithgow) defending a woman who's baby son was kidnapped and subsequently died (murdered?). It's a great period piece, set in post WWI 1930s LA when it was still semi-rural in places, the locations are great along with the cast and characterisations. Looks fantastic. Pace is slow. It's got kind of an LA Confidential vibe. Mason played by Welsh actor William Rhys but gets the yankee accent spot-on. He's a much seedier, and conflicted crumpled Perry Mason.

I just finished this. Superbly constructed piece of television. Great writing, gripping story, perfectly cast and brilliantly acted. There's something about the Prohibition/Depression era that is incredibly cinematic - the architecture, the design, the clothing, the cars, the mood, the fragility of life in the Big Bust hot on the tails of a boom era. On the back of The Americans Matthew Rhys enhances his rep here, and everyone else is great too. Terrific show.

Watching Your Honor on Stan.
Decent drama if not a little formulaic about a Judge who's conflicted when his son does the wrong thing.
Starring Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston.

Watched the final ep last night. Good summary you give - not brilliant but pretty good.

Found Rake on Netflix. Quite enjoyable so far though not sure how the show can keep going for 4 seasons

Well, I finally bought some books off Amazon, which entitled me to a free month of Amazon Prime.

Patriot stars NZ actor Michael Dorman as a US intelligence agent suffering depression and PTSD from all the dark sh!t he's done at the behest of his boss - who is also his dad - and the torture he's just endured. He's also a folk musician who increasingly sings about his outside-the-boundaries activities.

It's dark, deadpan funny, absurd at times, always sad not far from the surface, and never takes the easy option. It's a few years old and I'd never heard of it but I think it's a little bit brilliant.

Sounds good. A bit like Barry - hitman turned wannabee LA actor.

Just finished The Spy with Sacha Baron Cohen. Excellent show based on a true story and really interesting to see this actor in a serious role.
