I support the rolling fixture, but they need to release start times a month in advance to allow people to plan ahead. eg. R7 should be announced no later than March 30.

Boy oh boy. That is one tough draw.
It is but I’ve got no issue with it. Finals are played against the best teams of the year so would prefer tough games to see where we’re at.
But one thing that really *smile* me is how the hell did port powerless get such a soft draw after being on top of the ladder the whole of last year and we’re a bees *smile* away from playing in the grand final? Seriously, some teams that missed the finals last year were handed tougher draws than them

Port finish top of the ladder and get double games only against Footscary and Stkilda.
They seem to play all hard opposition at home.

I'm not sure if I support the rolling fixture. I thought it was a good idea at first, but it’s hard to plan ahead when they announce games 3-4 weeks in advance. It needs to be 6 weeks minimum. Or alternately, why not fixture the first 15 rounds normally, then do the rolling fixture for the last 2 months? That’s the time of the year when you get the most junk games and they can put the better games in the better timeslots.

I am hoping to head up for the Gold Coast game in early July, but I can’t plan anything til I know what day the game is on.

On the other side of the coin, they don't play too many at the G and thats where the flag is won.

I just want them on the G.
Im sick of there tough team persona, one good slapping on the G will send them back to in house blues and rumours the coach is gone again.
We still owe them for the final in 2013.

By the time we play the Dogs in round 7 we will have played 4 of our last 5 games off a 6 day break. With the increased minutes and reduced interchanges the AFL are doing their best to bring us back to the pack. Plus we are playing against an extra 3 players each week, free kicks 67-94

As much as the pandemic was/has been a nightmare for AFL fixturing..... it's also presented them with opportunities to do basically anything they like and link it to a 'covid normal' existence!

I get the reasons for the short time lines as who knows when the next *smile* up will occur and states will shut up shop!

Reckon we'll be living with some kind of rolling fixture forever now.

to be fair, St Kilda will be playing on a 5 day break.

If that’s the case, why didn't they move to 18 minute quarters and shorten the breaks? Seems like a stupid idea to return to 20 minutes now when they had the opportunity to go to 18 and would have felt less resistance. The same goes with returning to an afternoon GF when twilight is a no brainer.
