Hawkins/May aftermath.

Didn't think there was anything in it, but it's an ungainly manouevre.

They practice ungainly manoeuvres straight after the shrugging, rolling shoulders and dropping your knees session !

I say there'll be no action taken. We shall see. I've watched it a couple times at normal speed and I don't se how it could be classed as intentional. It was his handballing arm in the process of handballing. Thought Dangerfield's was far more borderline and he got off.
IMO he was taking his arm back in a way to somehow impede/strike May. May pulls him backwards and Hawkins lets his arm/elbow fly. You are always aware where an opponents head is. Hawkins took an opportunity at a free hit.

In some ways It's like the Astbury move. He wasn't looking at the Hawks player but if he had struck him in the head with his back swinging arm/elbow and did the damage Hawkins did he would get 4-6 weeks and there wouldn't be anyone questioning it.

Difference is Astbury's arm was a minute after he received the free not in the acrion of handballing. I didn't think that Astbury really deserved anything for that, there was a bit of academy award stuff going on there.

Tom Hawkins would have to be responsible for more striking injuries directly caused to opposition players than anyone else going around in the league.
