Mate if you think Victoria is any better your dreaming happens everywhere.I give her one thing and the rest of the States in Oz they don't go into panic mode and close the state and screw people , businesses and everyday life that's there last resort panic merchants.Get on with it learn to live with it like the rest of the world has simple as that we can't even organise a vaccine.

The Vic government did actually take a considered approach this time, no snap lockdown until that became untenable.

We're a nation of travellers. Some people got caught out through pure misfortune and have the constitutional right to go home regardless of what some numpties on the internet say. HOW ABOUT the government gets it *smile* together, rolls out the vaccine and opens the borders. Travellers aren't harming the economy, the government is by failing so miserably at the vaccine rollout. And what the *smile* does 'Australians' mean? It's more Aussie to be off living a global life than to be a useless bogan from Frankston.
Exactly. As I keep saying, we can't stay closed for ever. The US will be totally open soon. The UK the same. Most of Europe. Asia. These countries will have their economies open and flourishing, the majority of the populations will be vaccinated. Meanwhile we'll still be trying to get our population vaccinated, having sporadic lockdowns, bitching and moaning about failures of quarantine and contact tracing and playing stupid political games around this.

It's situations like this that make me remember how insular and provincial Australia is sometimes. Get the population vaccinated ASAP and open up to travel and business again.

I'm in the US. Ive been fully vaccinated for a while now, and I can't come into Australia? Laughable. Get the supply - there's plenty here if the Aussie government went cap in hand to the US government and made it so.
I'm planning a trip to Europe shortly and plenty of others are. The borders will be open before we know it - and at that time Australia will miss the biggest single tourist rush in history.

I have not heard of any other state govt proposing a Mickleham type camp. Wouldn't it be more likely to get through if all the Labour states at least joined forces on this campaign? What about Federal opposition exerting pressure too? Albanese could take some heat off Merlino.
Agreed. I think some other states have proposed their own Quarantine facility build too: I believe Anna in Qld proposed mining camp, then Toowoomba. SA also a mining camp I think which has since been used for fruit-pickers, and WA might have had an idea too.

The Toowoomba idea was a case in point. Morrison knocked it as lacking medical infrastructure etc. But five hospitals in the surrounding area, plus an international airport which takes cargo planes I believe.

Of course, not called out on these fallacies by 100% Murdoch-owned media in Qld!

Morrison and his bunch of happy clapper mates from the church are non-vaccers. The vaccine roll-out won't happen with him in charge of it.

So you simply haven't noticed how many people have died in the rest of the world? Maybe you can do some volunteer cleaning of suspected contaminated sites or in a hospital? Who's in charge of organising the vaccine rollout?

Scomo with his LNP backers and the Murdochcracy behind him poisoning the Australian media with ignorance, bias and prejudice, is really just the PM of NSW. Gladys is simply a lame puppet supported by the same hegemony.
She even claimed she knew nothing about the corrupt LP politician who was sleeping with her - wonder what his motives were. She has no idea except what she is told to say by her minders/puppet-masters. Rolled out like an aged wax doll to fool gullible people - "Look at the nice, little lady; she seems so decent!"

For her to preach to the rest of Australia is disgusting. She's just a cypher for the rampant corruption in that state.
Ever noticed the odd discrepancy between actual declared Covid cases in NSW and the huge incidence of contaminated wastewater? They use a 'different' method of reporting cases to every other state from about June, '20. Why would that be?

But if you want to be fooled by Gladys, by all means.

More ignorant BS. See Brett Sutton's tweet: must have been directed at the likes of you. "10,000 contacts found! The false narrative hurts real people, mentally."

Have you picked up that Wollert man most likely has brought the much more highly transmissible Indian variant in from SA. Not enough focus on the huge ineptitude of that which has caused this Vic lockdown with that SA premier with his nose in the air, closing the border to what his state has spread. Some are just too blind or thick to see through the blanket media bias of course.

Then they even have the gall to say they would not allow their own Crowbaits to fly back in from playing us at the G without 14 day quarantine. But not surprised to see where your loyalties lie.

Who else is sitting at home and meant to be working but not bothering given you don't have to go in to the office all next week?

Simply moronic response. I think the guy blinded by bias is the one who has got NOTHING to argue when challenged. The post I rightfully attacked is incredibly ignorant and offensive to our VicGov contact tracers putting in enormous hours of effort to try and protect our community, including the likes of you.
As if you are not projecting your LP politics! Since I'm an avowed opponent of communism, it's just further stupidity to attempt to get mileage from the Comrade moniker. It's only used by communists to each other ... meaning you must be one or want to be. ;)

We should have got in first on that one - Adelaide FC not allowed to come to Vic because of the COVID recently brought in to Vic from SA.

Yes we should have. Or called their bluff by insisting we play our HG at the G, after 2020 losses, and just having been forced to give up another one at Marvel (so it just puts that one further into context as another heavy $$$ hit for our club). I wonder if that haughty SA premier would really have refused Crows flying back or the full quarantine? With the pressure piled on from the locals and media.

Also might have been interesting to overhear Gil's call to Benny telling us to pack up and fly to Metricon. I wonder if he had any chance of refusing or at least questioning, disputing?

I've had my first round of Astra Zeneca. I am sitting here waiting to die.
I was forced to get vaccinated even though Rona never visits Queensland and it's just the flu. :p
I feel like such a dirty sheep. There is a strange ticking sound coming from the injection site. I think my nano ID tracker has started up. I also feel strangely hormonal, nauseous, and emotional and my belly is bloating. Hope that's not the placenta component making me pregnant.

I thank the Lord for Chef Pete Evans who is helping me get through my trauma and assisting with legal expenses to sue the Government for this disgraceful invasion of my body. Oh Pete, set the recipe on your magical machine to goodness and soothing. Don't forget to mix in a touch of tan.

"Kumbaya, my Lord, Kumbaya. Oh Lord, Kumbaya."

Are we reading anything into the AFL giving us the chance to move our game interstate where we can still draw a crowd and make some money, while other Melbourne clubs are left to play in empty grounds?

Does the pro-Richmond AFL conspiracy have some merit? :peepwall
Would've got a much bigger crowd in Adelaide, probably larger than we'd have got at the MCG. We're going to do our balls if we have to pay costs in Sydney with a crowd of 2000 or less.

So you're suggesting the pro-Richmond AFL didn't send us to Adelaide in line with the best commercial decision in order to not allow Adelaide a home state advantage?

The plot thickens.
First reports were that we were going to Adelaide. If the club chose Sydney instead, all well and good. But we're going to lose a motza.

Maybe the Adelaide Oval wasn't prepared to hand over the gate?

The border to SA is closed and we'd have to quarantine even if we were allowed in. That's why it ain't in SA, not because of some bizarre anti-Richmond AFL conspiracy.

The AFL sets the fixture and the home clubs take control of the venue. The Adelaide Oval could refuse to take the game but that would be very unusual as a venue makes money from being hired.

These conspiracy theories have a way of answering everything.
Well until someone in the know tells how we ended up in Sydney, we can only guess.

FFS here's the answer

Travelling from Victoria into SA

Effective 6:00 pm 26 May 2021

  • Any person who has been in Greater Melbourne any time in the 14 days prior to their intended arrival (but not before Thursday 20 May 2021) is not permitted to enter South Australia (Level 6 restriction). Essential travellers and permitted arrivals (returning South Australian residents, persons relocating, and domestic violence arrivals) are permitted entry but will be subject to Level 4 restrictions (self-quarantine for 14 days; test on days 1, 5, and 13; and wear a mask in public ).

This means we can't go to Adelaide and the Crows can't go to Victoria unless they want to quarantine for 14 days afterwards.

That leaves Brisbane, Perth, Darwin I guess and Sydney. I reckon it's a factor of flights, accommodation and ground availability, take your pick.
