Haven't straight out asked him but from what I could gather, I think he realised that his ability to move around the country & attend events etc. could potentially be halted given some of the news coming out of Europe & other place that it's case of no jab - no play ie vaccine passports. He was also quite worried about potential side effects. FWIW I asked him yesterday & he had none whatsoever.
interesting - self interest to be able to travel Is the driver.

As someone who has dealt with process safety risk in industrial settings (and risk assessments that consider safety consequences) I find fear mongering on the side effects disturbing in how they are portrayed. if We had the same fear about driving our car we would never get in As it is way more risky. Falling from heights, getting hit by a vehicle, hitting your head on the ground, getting electrocuted by becoming an earth etc are all things we should worry about more and take precautions against. (Still trying to get my 12 year old to look left and right every time before crossing a road)

we need some serious advertising explaining risk visually and also that eventually we will open up ANd once that happens the risk of COVID death For the unvaccinated will skyrocket.

I do think a vaccine that causes no serious effects / death should be still something we expect, but given we don’t have it yet then twhat we have is way less risky than no jab. Polio vaccine I think had some rare cases where it caused polio and eventually we worked out why that happened and fixed it. It’s still horrific for anyone who gets impacted.

The tuberculosis jab they gave us all in high school, caused a huge volcano to erupt on your shoulder that smouldered for a fortnight.

The "woman from Victoria" is actually a Queenslander who was in Vic when the lockdown started and decided to drive back home to her family.
Haven't seen that reported anywhere Baloo. Evening this morning they are still referring to the couple as Victorian.

Saw it on Twitter from a couple of blue ticks. Let me see if I can find the references.

Common thread from the State leaders is that they’re all ready to go but vaccine supply from the Feds remains the no 1 reason for the slow rollout. It’s June FFS, where are the vaccines? Front of the queue and that..
Ready to go where?
Have the Vics stopped stockpiling the vaccine that could be distributed now ( Age article a couple of days ago)

They are reporting that they live in Melbourne but have family on the Sunshine Coast and that's who they went to visit.

Feb 2021? 12 months after corona started here and 11 months after national cabinet first met? Swift work. IHappy for the Feds to be canned, they have been hopeless but there's some irony in thrusting VIC forward as some shining example of covid planning & management.

Ultimately its the advisors to national cabinet that appear to have failed to plan properly but possible reasons for this are pointed out above.
when the outbreak happened in Victoria last year it was dismissed as the failing of how it was run in Victoria. when more outbreaks happen across the country i assume people started to realise hotels probably werent the best facilties for quarantine. at some stage victoria obviously then started planning better options, and came up with Avalon and the others as potential options. Queensland apparently went through the same process, and now NSW are on board too. (Not sure about WA and SA.)
I am not "thrusting VIC forward as some shining example of covid planning & management", just pointing out that some states have been considering better options to quarantine for some time, in response to the issues that became apparent with hotels last year. it appears the feds have only just reluctantly come agreed with this option.

Was that this article:

A state government spokeswoman said Victoria’s vaccination rate was up to 140,000 doses a week. “We must retain a certain number of doses to ensure all Victorians receive their second dose,” she said.
Victoria receives 110,000 doses a week from the federal government, about 30,000 fewer than it is currently administering.

I find that hard to believe? I hope it’s right. Just basing this on regional Victoria restrictions from this week.

its correct, trust me.

I don't think there should be games in Victoria until at least 50% capacity is allowed at the venues. It was so much better watching the dream time with a packed house on TV than it was watching the Dogs v Melb at a locked out stadium.

could not disagree more if I tried. if there are crowds (even at 20-25%), they have to be played in Melbourne. Members deserve the opportunity to go to games and clubs deserve the opportunity to bring in some revenue.

Waiting for Dan to float to the surface resurface. If it doesn’t happen this month, the rumours will go into hyperdrive.

well people should not be giving oxygen to these ridiculous and appalling rumours. as much as i despise Morrison, I would never go out of my way to spread such disgusting lies about his private life.

are the states changing any protocols in response to what happened in SA?

it will likely happen again if no change.

Didnt Lindsay offer up Avalon 12 months ago. Got a feeling he was told to bugger off

So what happens at National cabinet meetings? Why does it even exist? Appears a pretty pointless committee if there is no consensus decisions and behaviour on the big issues stemming from it.

I assume Morrison chairs them so they probably just discuss photo ops.

I dont know what a blue tick is?

I assume its some sort of fact checked audit system and Pete Evans has 0 blue ticks?

remember getting that bright pink polio juice shoved in your mouth on a white plastic spoon at primary school?

I wonder what brand it was?
