When you dominate play, you get more frees. Pretty simple.
Aah, ok, must have missed that over the last 4 years.

Obviously a furphy (nice drop). Top 6 for frees per opposition this year are Bulldogs (near top every year), Crows, Demons, Blues, Cats, Kangas. Of course Tigers are last by a long way. Port, Swans, Fremantle, BrisbaneI used to be a firm believer in this basic princible. But after the ladt 4 years of us dominating play and getting screwed, I no longer do. And it ain't my one-eyedness, its hard data.
On yesterday, I agree. Umps did a couple of shockers, but my previous point notwithstanding, if you have momentum, the umps go with it.
Separation of powers, spot on, agree 100%. But there is no political mechanism to make it happen that I can see. The only possibilities a fan revolt/ boycott, or a hardline stance by an alliance of 4 to 8 of the most powerful clubs. Can't see either happening.a big issue in the AFL (the Australian Football League- the AFL is not the game itself despite what it thinks) is that AFL execs want (higher scoring) the opposite of what coaches want (lower scores against). so the AFL brings in small rule changes, that affect all levels of Australian Rules Football, not just the AFL, but the coaches then just adjust, so the end result is nothing.
If they want to bring substantial change to the way Aussie Rules is played they will need to bring in substantial rule changes, but they know they cant so they keep tinkering, which ultimately does little but annoy (or worse) the fans.
Australian Rules Football needs a separate rules committee, and governing body, that looks after the game as a whole.

Richmond screwed Richmond today. No one else.
Our young blokes should be used to it, because the umpires in the VFL screw us over as well.Disagree. I think the umpires were very influential in giving Pies the run on to help them win the game. At one stage frees were 7 a piece. Pies received 17 of the next 24 frees plus 2 x 50s. In our heyday it wouldn't have demoralised us. As a weaker younger team it has more influence. The umpiring inconsistencies against Tigers particularly on 50-50 decisions does my head in.

Howorth has put in another solid performance in a back to back appearance and leads the baying pack followed closely by Foot.
The Richmond jugular has been severed and the smell of blood has all but a compassionate five in a frenzy.
Glouftsis, Margetts, and Toner have rung into the club to offer a pack of band-aids to stem the flow but the AFL has blocked the call.
That’s Howorth Ed. It’s Why he is top of the table.Umpire 17. Terrible.
He’s only umpired 35 games, obviously training them early to screw us at every opportunity. That’s Howorth Ed. It’s Why he is top of the table.
Or incentivise the coaches. *smile* off all these knee jerk rule changes and give a bonus premiership point for scores over 100.a big issue in the AFL (the Australian Football League- the AFL is not the game itself despite what it thinks) is that AFL execs want (higher scoring) the opposite of what coaches want (lower scores against). so the AFL brings in small rule changes, that affect all levels of Australian Rules Football, not just the AFL, but the coaches then just adjust, so the end result is nothing.

So you get more frees if you have the momentum? There is a rule that changes the deciding of infringements according to who has momentum?I used to be a firm believer in this basic princible.
