Depends whether CJ is a forward or a ruck. Ryan is still behind Chol and Mate isnt even in the country yet, or on our list proper.

If we want to contend next year, we have more chance of winning games with Chol rucking than Ryan or Collina if injuries strike Nank and Soldo
We won't be contending next year. Next few years will be cleaning out the cupboard. Older fellas will retiring. Era is done. But what an era.

We have more chance of winning games if CJ goes into the ruck and Cumberland plays as a third marking forward instead.

He has instincts, he doesn't have the desire. You can't teach that. Goneski at end of year imo.
Yep. What's the excuse for his lack of competitive spirit ? The weak one handed attempts ? The ducking the head ? Walking aimlessly after a contest instead of backing up and getting to the next one ? And on and on.

Who cares about 3rd string...fourth string....ruck or chf ...gets tired .....and anything else for that matter when you just don't have the fundamental and basic desire to compete to the max ? That's just a non negotiable for mine.

The positive is that we won't feel ripped off when he walks to the Druggies for nothing as a free agent at the end of the year

When Penderbury gets the ball and kicks it inside 50.
Chol is in the background walking like he is on a sundey picnic

Wanted to believe, but lost me yesterday.

Love Spook and the great man’s passion, but Chol has had enough time. Let another club see if they can bring him further.
Are you saying I'm not a great man?

Chol has all the right attributes, height, jump, speed, athleticism etc and all he is missing is tank, desire and work rate. You can build a tank but desire and willingness to work for himself and teammates can never be taught. come end of season let him be some other clubs problem

just can't have him in anymore. he's done in my eyes.

tentative. unfocused. soft.

Tentative. Unfocused. Soft.

These traits were clear 3 years ago, and can almost never be changed.

We’ve long known that Mabs is miles off the most basic threshold for intensity, focus, and competitiveness, so I guess we’ve only persisted because he’s been a low cost, backup option for a position of low priority that’s already well-stocked. And probably well-liked internally, like Naish.

He’s performing exactly as expected based on past evidence and for his pay grade.

So not a howler of a decision to keep him this long, but it hasn’t been our best use of the rookie draft in recent years.

I think the lesson here is people can change some things, but not others.

We’ve heard Dimma say “control what you can control” for years, but unfortunately you can’t control intensity or desire.

Agree. I have have been a fan and defender at times in the past but seeing him live in the Colonwood capitulation match, was the final straw for me. Yes, he has all the attributes - except the heart. I think basketball would be more his game, without the intense and fierce body contact aspect of AFL, a game he almost certainly never grew up playing.

But there has to be one qualification - if injuries, both ankle and quad - severely restricted him in that match. Saw him do it in a stumble at a throw-in against Grundy, Just looked clumsy. But he had to stay on; we have no-one else ... and still don't assuming Nank won't come up.

If Mabs battled on in a very limited manner afterwards, we need to cut him some slack. Overall, though, I seriously doubt he is that committed to a long AFL career.

Hardwick referred specifically to Mabior as a #3 ruck in his pre-Brisbane-game presser. A #3 ruck against an All Aust Grundy. To give perspective to the slaughter. To the inevitability.

Very few sides have even a number #2 ruck. Oh. Brisbane does. McInerney. But he bats #1. Nobody has a #3 ruck who can pass at #1 at AFL level.

If Rowan Marshall has to bat #1 he will get massacred. #2 ruck.

Exceptions? All exceptions levelled up at the instant of becoming exceptions.

#1 rucks? There aren't more than ten in the AFL. #2 rucks? Soldo is easily the best of them. If not him Nankervis. You like Marshall? A McEvoy class ruck. A fit Soldo/Nank find out if Marshall has trouble with the *smile* sticking to his fur.

We have Samson Ryan coming through. Excellent.

We can keep Mabior as a #3 ruck for next year. And if he doesn't level up he may not get opportunities and he may be adives that there are better options elsewhere. But he's getting the chance to level up to #2. He won't have to do much to be as hard as RoMA. Not to say he'll be as good.

This bloke was running under the ball every time when we recruited him. He was still doing that at the beginning of this year. But by mid 21 he'd learned to run at the ball when it was in front of him. But not into players.

We can't trade him. We keep Mabior Chol and we develop him. He has steadily improved all year. A credit to him and the coaches. Maybe he does level up to #2 ruck class. If not Samson Ryan will pass him. And may do anyway.

Nah he's gone imo. Someone will stump up something for him. Sampson and CJ better ruck prospects and with Soldo coming back just can't see where Chol fits in. 10kgs too light for a ruck or forward particularly since he has no aggro.

Actually looking forward to seeing how Cholly goes against Brisvegas if the Nankster plays. Nank will be fairly underdone so he'll probably get no more than 60% game time, but he's a beast n should cause some carnage to the Brisvegas ruck division. Might just be an ideal situation for the Cholly man to have some serious game impact if he doesn't have to try n carry the ruck load on his own.

Agree I was hoping that would be the case last week til Nank didn't play.
