he was. and with Robinson it's constant, plays like he's in a video game.
he's a little unhinged ..
Mitch is the sort of guy who most opposition supporters hate, however I have no doubt that if he played for Richmond we would all love him. He is a bit crazy and certainly not one of the most talented players in the game but he gives 100% effort for his team every week. He seems like a great club man to me.

Some good comments in this thread pointing out the anomaly with the bump and head injuries versus this one but to me that shows the stupidity of the way the bump is seen these days rather than Robinson doing anything wrong.

good and fair comments sin. Robinson was by no means to blame for the injury to Dusty. i just don't dig the way he goes about it on the field, too mush recklessness.
not my kind of player that's all, and it seemed darkly poetic that it was he that was in the collision.

If Dusty had been mildly concussed Robinson misses a week for choosing to bump. Instead Dusty misses 3 months. The kidney is not sacrosanct.

I don't blame Robinson 1%, freak accident. Didn't pull out of the contest and ran into the contest front on and wide open, wasn't looking to be dirty.

These things happen.

Bingo.
What was Robison doing?
All media outlets have swept it under the carpet.
Dusty was going the ball while that *smile* stick went 100 kms at Dusty.
I just cant wait for Dangerfield or Selwood to cop the same.
Get ready for the outcry.
The minute Dusty went to ground, i straight away thought the knob would be suspended. He chose to bump.

Theres no footage ive seen that shows Robinson going for the ball.
He went in to bump.
Where's Hocking the kokweed.
A player misses 3 months of football because of a bump and absolute Crickets.
The media is the worse

Bumping a player grabbing the ball, as long as it is not too high or too low, has always been legal in Australian Rules Football.

The issue with concussion is that, for a player to get concussed, the bump must have been too high.

Are you suggesting we outlaw the bump in Australian Rules Football?

I thought there was a rule that said if you CHOOSE to bump rather than tackle you wear the consequences of the damage. The question is, does this only apply to head injuries? If it does, Robinson is okay.
Personally, I thought it was a Yeates/Brereton style hit.

Robinson did not bump and did not try to bump.

Robinson sets himself to tackle (front on position), Dusty fumbles the ball and turns side on to take the impact/tackle from Robinson. Debatable whether it's Dustin's own elbow that impacts his kidney with pressure from Robinson's frontal torso or possibly Robinson's left arm/elbow again with pressure from the torso.

In any case, Robinson positions to tackle but realises Dusty has turned side on to bump/brace and he will cop Dusty's shoulder/elbow - moves his left arm in to protect himself. You can see in the last photo MR's hand/forarm in a weak defensive position at Dusty's shoulder. No tucked elbow, no shoulder positioned to bump.

It's a football incident. No intent to bump, no case to answer. Not a dangerous tackle either, no case to answer. These impacts happen a hundred times a game, this was just bad, bad luck for Dusty.

Just for giggles, this is the immediate aftermath where it definitely looks like Robinson comes off second-best... in a temporary way he has, he ran front on into Dusty's shoulder and arm.

Agree, was a complete accident and football incident and both players were bracing for contact, what no-one has mentioned is that Lachie Neale also gave Dusty, (fairly), a little shove into Robertson which may have slightly contributed to outcome, (actually above shots show Neale's involvement).
