Olympics Tokyo 2021 - sport

Great effort by Browning. Fluffed the start a bit and that cost him. But he's only 23 so has plenty of time. If he maintains form and stays injury free natural improvement should see him up there in Paris.

Great effort by Liz Clay as well. Missed the final by 0.08 seconds after a complete debacle by the starter.

The start of the sprint races has been a disgrace so far at these Olympics. Amateur hour.

There was a Polish chick in Liz Clay's race that had dead set at least 8 consonants in her name before the first vowel!

There was also an Italian chick in her race o_O.........................................................

Wasn't he only 0.02 off yesterday's run? Just better class today. Those he beat yesterday didn't make it through i don't think.

That was a brilliant run. I must admit I had never knew who he was. Has to be a medal chance.
He's a live medal chance. Interested in his back story. I assume he's of Sudanese background. I wonder if he was born in Oz or is a refugee/immigrant. Anyone know?

Regardless wish him all the best. When is the final?

Unless you have a WR holder who is clearly dominating the event. 800m is one of those races with so many variables going on, that anyone in the top 10-12 in the world can earn a place onto the podium at a major championship, if they get their race craft right.

It’s not like swimming, or even sprinting on the track, where you are segregated into lanes and the results can be fairly predictable. The nature of the push and shove, people playing silly buggers with the pacing, tactics etc make the 800m (and 1500m) so exciting for the spectator due to the unpredictability of it.

He ran 10.01 yesterday and 10.09 today. You gotta break 10 seconds to make the final. Not sure if he would have done that if he had a better start but he shows great potential.

This is already Australia's best Olympics since Sydney at least. And bar Cathy Freeman, our best performance in the main stadium since I've been alive.
