the only rule the Umps are clear on now is "Stand"
The stand rule is the only rule that the umps are consistent with too. They consistently let the player with the ball move a few metres off his line before calling play-on.

Except if it’s a tigers…..look like moving off the line and it’s called play on

B) where spilled out in the tackle stops and dropping the ball starts.
Oooooh oooooh oooooh. I know this one. Dropping the ball starts only if you've been spun 720 in a tackle that's been held for at least twenty seconds by the tackler. But never applies or is relevant to any player wearing a Tigers jumper.

I don’t believe so….was watching yesterday with a couple of neutrals and they bought it up. My constant disapproval of all prior maggotry may have influenced them!

The AFL need to search far and wide for some decent umpires. Go to the bush and you can find heaps of better umps. The current batch of umps are *smile* useless.

Including boundary umps. That out of bounce that wasn’t called when the player was in the second level of the stand was deplorable.

As bad as we were, the umpiring tonight was pathetic. 2 decisions in the first quarter cost us 2 Goals and then it got worse.

People say they only got 1 or 2 or 3 decisions wrong.
But we seem to get free kicks paid against us that break any flow we had in the game.
It happened in the Sydney game in round 3, Every time we we make a fight back they would stop us with a ridiculous uncalled for free kick.
They did the same tonight.
Mollison is alongside Degoey and that *smile* stick Williamson as the worse umpires.
The Collingwood last qtr, disregard there 7 goal last qtr, the 2 free kicks in the 3rd when we should've put them away, umpire pays free kicks to stop us.
The freo game i lost count how many times the Freo players were caught holding the ball.
As long as the umpires are protected from any criticism this will continue.
The free kick against lynch, just typifies the hate towards us.
That would never be paid in any other game.

Weird umpiring tonight. They would pay very soft free kicks and then ignore blatant free kicks. Just all over the place.

That out of bounds was just farcical, FFS how can that happen in a professional league?

Still, apparently mediocrity in umpiring is fine.

We can blame the umpires for inconsistency or we can blame the rules and the AFL.
The AFL has basically made good consistent umpiring impossible. The holding the ball rule is a fiasco. The MRP is a fiasco.
I agree we have some garbage umpires but they are umpiring with garbage rules and interpretation of rules.

It all starts with the holding the ball rule.. Pay holding the ball and the game will correct itself. What we are seeing is players are tackling and because the whistle isn't being blown the tackler will not let go and we start getting into ' DANGEROUS TACKLE ' Also we are seeing players with the ball knowing they won't get penalised. Pay holding the ball and players will spread and not cause the scrum type play..

It may be harsh but maybe the umpires need to even stronger in the HTB determination. So often players aren’t disposing the ball because they don’t like the option (or there are none) so they allow themselves to be tackled and it’s a ball up. These instances are split second stuff, not blatant but IMO they’re there.
