The Blair "Which?" Project

Just keep and use all our draft picks...
We are clearly done and recruiting and list management should be geared long term with the view of contending again in 4-6 years if all goes well...

Disagree. While Dusty and Shai in particular are still with us, we are in contention. Just get support around them.

Just remember who your talking about a 3 time premiership star

As for George Who can say he did anything in 2021 to warrant his place in the side?

Who was good this year?
Besides Broad? Jack? Graham?
Not many others
Lets not just go after George

If the talk of Pickett going home are true why not swap for Willie Rioli. He would instantly make our forward line better.
This year we really missed that crumbing forward when the ball hit the deck. He would probably relish playing with “the brothers” at tigerland. He would suit much better than Petricelli. Two Rioli’s in the forward line would be “Delicious “.

George has played in 3 premierships and at his best has been more than serviceable. Speed and tackling great. But the game has changed and the new stand mark rules makes the weakness in his game stand out.
If anything his kicking, bad when he arrived, is now worse. Before the rule change our approach to fast disposal and kicking down the line allowed him to disguise his difficulty.
Dimma loves him and he has been resigned.
But … he was finally dropped because of his kicking issue and don’t see him getting much play time next year.

Hopefully the stand rule gets abolished by the time next season comes around and guys like George become effective once again.

Bill. I suspect we might only use the first 3 and see who does not get picked. Given the limited games over the last couple of years selecting a number particularly calls with a view to the Supplementary in early 2021 like the Mansell pick

Yep, and even though ‘Fonzie’ Demetriou is gone, Gil is cut from the same cloth and his ego will never let him admit that he was wrong.
I think there's a gentleman's agreement to keep covering the corruption, exploitation and mistakes of the previous ruler while you do your own wheeling and dealing.

I was looking up a different post and accidentally found this one from Nov 2017 instead:

Wow.

This list is primed for sustained success.

I really think we have the capability of winning 3 premierships by 2020 with this combination of on-field talent, recruiting philosophies for the modern game, and club culture.

Go Tiges.

It was easy to call at the time! The club's recruiting philosophies were clearly outstanding. Their in-house ideas differ to other clubs and have put us at a strategic advantage.

This year we find out if we still have that advantage.

Since 2019, we've had a pandemic affecting the recruiting process and several of our core stars have aged above 30. These are the perfect ingredients for panic to brew. Will we deviate? Will we doubt that our ideas still work? Any club in our position risks fearing they lack talent and overcompensating by being "ruthless". We haven't made any of these mistakes so far that I can see.

The upcoming draft will be interesting. Will we continue to prioritise character over talent? The risk if we end up with a Reece Conca. The benefit is we continue a 10+ year philosophy.

Do we continue to target a specific type of player for the modern game? This is the big one. If we don't target a specific type of player, it will suggest that we believe our advantage has been "figured out" or "the game has changed", in which case, it would mean we think our strategy since 2014 will no longer help us moving forward. It would mean we're done.

Interesting period ahead.

As Dimma said last night, this year was different, more planning required, I'm sure George is part of the new plan

If he is coachable, then there will be a place in the team, i also wouldnt imagine him being on the highest of playing list wages.

And that's why I can't see hand Gills role to the Cheif, far to fair and considered, not in it only for himself and any bastard mates
