Is that the survivalist show? I watched a few eps. Peaked with the bloke who built 'rock house', shot a buffalo with a bow and arrow and killed it by darting in and out to stab it with a knife. That bloke could have lived there the rest of his life.

There seems to be 2 of these shows called Alone. One has just 3 contestants who work together and they commence with a dead buffalo to eat and utilise.

Theres another where there’s 10 contestants who are all independent of each other and it’s last man standing.

That's series 7.
I reckon that bloke was already there when the film crew rocked up, and they just left him to it

Well ep 9 of Ted Lasso where coach Beard went on an adventure was different, copying the 1985 Scorsese film “After hours”.

Sex Education Season 3 has started. Brit comedy where Gillian Anderson plays the sex therapist mother of a nerdy virgin son. Said kid starts sex therapy sessions at school for his classmates.

Worth it for Gillian Anderson.

Season 2 of The Morning Show with Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carell started as well. Wasn't a bad Season 1. Will see where season 2 goes

Ya lost me there. ?
As per my post last week, that's who it feels like is writing and directing this season. To borrow from Redford, written by Cal Twomey and Mitch Cleary, directed by Gerard Whately. No life experience to draw from, hence every idea is a pale, faded copy of something they watched at uni, and every character is at best two-dimensional but usually a caricature.

The old woman on the bus abusing Beard, that's not funny nor based in any kind of reality. The three fans from the pub he goes out with - do we even know their names yet after what, 19 episodes? Do we know anything about them other than they're simpletons who like football? Why do we give a crap about Beard's fear of vulnerability? It's just been suddenly foisted on us with no development. Beard running into Jamie's dad and then being saved by the big fella who'd "been looking all over" for him, yet found him in some obscure alley just as he's getting his head kicked in. Contrived convenience.

(And don't get me started on the writers using the characters to voice their own opinions/theories on movies. That's a pet hate of mine.)

The first series had a simple premise and storyline. The second feels rushed and discombobulated and totally unclear on what it's doing. Trite. Contrived. Easy answers. Puddle deep. It's like they mapped out plot points they wanted to hit (Ted's breakdown - where's that at, by the way?) and filmed the first draft of the scripts they wrote to get there.

Such a disappointment after series 1. That was so perfectly self-contained they could have finished it there. Having gone on, they needed to get darker and deeper into Ted's demons in my opinion. Instead they've spread the load across too many characters and storylines as thinly as you'd introduce an American to Vegemite. Everyone's in a holding pattern, repeating notes they've hit numerous times before. Get on with it or get out.

Right, gotcha.Whilst I didn't hate this episode I certainly got the feeling the writers are struggling. This season has been a bit of a mess, all of the shop (discombobulated as you say).

Have you seen After Hours? I remember really liking it back when I watched it 30 odd years ago. This episode has made me want to rewatch it.

Yeah, I've seen it a couple of times, most recently a couple of years ago. Not a huge fan of rambling storylines.

Been watching the SAS show. Whilst I find the British series with non celebrity contestants better it’s still quite entertaining. Some of the stuff they make them do sends shivers down the spine.

I do enjoy watching the instructors abandon all pretence of political correctness and go old school on the contestants. Reminds me of my footy coaches from the 80s and 90s ha ha ha.

This doco done by Ken Burns is beginning in the US tomorrow our time. Apparently spent years on it. 8 x 1hr eps I think.
Hopefully it will begin to pop up on YouTube soon after.

Really liked this episode, or at least more than most this season. I love After Hours though ... will have to rewatch that.

I also agree this season is all over the shop.

Ken Burns is great. Check out his doco on the Vietnam war, I think it's still on SBS On Demand.

Will watch this with interest!
