I reckon if he had played earlier this year as he should have, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

I’ve said it a few times, it is incumbent on the coaches to fit the best players we have into a system in the 22. In this case, the coaches took too long to figure it out.

He should be best 22 for us in 2022. If the coaches have said that’s unlikely, he should leave and we certainly can’t complain about poor compensation as we’ve partially shot ourselves in the foot.
I agree with what you are saying. We should have always played with 2 rucks this year. However for next year we get Soldo back. I have no doubt the match committee pick Soldo ahead of CCJ especially if Jack and Lynch are fit.

Play three talls up forward. Jack can roam, CCJ & Lynch in the keys.

Fair chance both miss some footy next year. You have got one year to manage it.

Couldn't disagree more. He stuffed up and copped his right whack and lots of people would tell you more than that. If the club didn't think it was in it's interest to keep him on then it wouldn't have. A football club's moral compass is almost always guided by how well you play, that's why there's Dan Connors and Dustin Martins.

As for the owing the club argument, I can't cop that either. He's been employed by an organisation and has turned up and done his job for them. If another organisation came to any of us and offered us more opportunity, better terms and a longer tenure would anyone say no because they owned their current employer just for paying them to do their job for a period of time?
Daniel Connors was on his last chance. It was his 3rd transgression. He was given chances as others have as well

He hasn't gone yet has he? A *smile* jouno writes that he wants out and we believe it or is there more to it? He will stay, why would you leave and go to North or the Suns.

Too top heavy Scoop. What happens to one of Nank or Soldo when not in the ruck? Bench? Then we sacrifice a runner in the team.
Not for me.

Agree, but the jury seems to be out on Soldo's fitness from what I can gather. Who knows if he gets back to the level he showed pre-injury.

Yeah your right but I’m not convinced Soldo recovers 100% and Jack and Tom will miss footy next year.

We need CCJ.

Samson looks the goods,
How did he look in his debut AFL game? Too much being made of a few decent games in a very mixed 2021 VFL comp.

Built like a beanstalk. Years away if he ever makes it at all IMHO.

It's called silly season for a reason.
Rumours become fact & journos pretty much say what they want with zero ramification.
So much media space taken up by fictional trades that rarely eventuate. Wake me when trade week is completed.

We need CCJ.

We will need CCJ, but that doesn’t help negotiations with a player who knows he’s good enough right now.

That’s the crux of it.

Big decision for him and I hope he looks after us if he decides to go to NMFC. I think he will.

That I agree with. With CCJ and Chol going then our depth is gone. But I can understand why these guys don’t want to wait for injuries to happen before getting a game.

HUGE HUGE mistake if Callum ends up leaving Richmond.

One - which many here - will rue for years to come.

Structurally it leaves a massive hole in our list. Disastrous decision by Blair and Hardwick - not prioritising Callum's contract. Not giving him longer than 2 years and promising him regular game time.

With Chol departing. If Lynch or Riewoldt go down for any periods next year - Who may I ask is going to fill the void.? Soldo? Samson Ryan? Or pulling Balta out of defence?

Accurate goal kicking ruckmen - who are just as proficient playing forward - are rare as hens teeth. Years of development down the drain.

What for.

Maintaining the salary/playing status of a legend of the club - Who as a rising 33yr old should have retired gracefully this year.

Riewoldt's form this year (1 good game in 4) is a portend of what is to come in 2022.

Was his first season at vfl , you’d be happy if an early pick performed like he did first year at vfl , several games multi goals lots of marks , moves well, to asses him on one senior appearance is nuffy 101

Think CJ is making a mistake.

Pretty disappointed if what we are hearing in the media is true. Would hate to think we may be lowballing or offering him only two years.

I would offer him 3 to keep him.

I see our ruck stocks as an area of concern and of unknowns.

But I wait to see this confirmed.

You are really going to judge him on 1 game where he was played in a top heavy lineup on a rainy day when the team collectively played their worst football of the year?
