HUGE HUGE mistake if Callum ends up leaving Richmond.

One - which many here - will rue for years to come.

Structurally it leaves a massive hole in our list. Disastrous decision by Blair and Hardwick - not prioritising Callum's contract. Not giving him longer than 2 years and promising him regular game time.

With Chol departing. If Lynch or Riewoldt go down for any periods next year - Who may I ask is going to fill the void.? Soldo? Samson Ryan? Or pulling Balta out of defence?

Accurate goal kicking ruckmen - who are just as proficient playing forward - are rare as hens teeth. Years of development down the drain.

What for.

Maintaining the salary/playing status of a legend of the club - Who as a rising 33yr old should have retired gracefully this year.

Riewoldt's form this year (1 good game in 4) is a portend of what is to come in 2022.

I'm slowly relinquishing my care factor on whether or not we retain CCJ. Once upon a time, losing a 22-23 year old KPF prospect you've invested 4 years into might've been a fatal blow. Nowadays, not so much. Instead, we get to use our imminent 2023 war chest to close the deal on a really big fish as a free agent. There's nothing nowadays to suggest that we need to develop our own key position players, or even cough up ridiculous draft currency to trade one in. Free agency has put an stop to that necessity. All it takes nowadays is a really good pitch from the club and a healthy gap in our salary cap.

If the club didn't think it was in it's interest to keep him on then it wouldn't have. A football club's moral compass is almost always guided by how well you play, that's why there's Dan Connors and Dustin Martins.

As for the owing the club argument, I can't cop that either. He's been employed by an organisation and has turned up and done his job for them. If another organisation came to any of us and offered us more opportunity, better terms and a longer tenure would anyone say no because they owned their current employer just for paying them to do their job for a period of time?

Well, that might be the case, but if he goes and we get the draft picks, they're going to be a few years away from being any good. And KPP generally take longer to get there. CCJ would fit nicely into a bracket should Reiwoldt go, then the next echelon of mids would develop around them.

I was there and I don’t recall him doing much. I think he is a good player but what I remember is a skinny kid running around not doing a lot. Which is what you would expect of a 200 cm 19 year old.

As far as I can recall he got slaughtered at the bounces and ruck contests but showed a bit. (Bellchambers) I think he ended up with 12-13 around the ground. Looked like he knew how to play ruck but couldn't compete with the bigger bodies

He's played 9 games and showed potential that's it. So he ain't getting 600K. Now in 3 years time if he's flying, hypothetically speaking he's at north they would most likely restructure his contract and extend it on a much higher base.
