They have just announced Leppa and Bolton to their coaching group. They have assembled a very good coaching panel.

Agree. Just posted the same in the Oppos Thread.
And Hawthorn's new panel looks very good too - now with Hale added to Hickmott. Rookie or not, I wouldnt underestimate Mitchell next year. They'll be active in trading too - to get picks and maybe even still have a chance with Cerra?

Hate to say this but I had a close look at many of their matches this year, partly because I wanted to see evidence of what I suspected might be on the menu after the seismic shifts over delistings, salary cap issues and Eddie and Buckley's demise. Tanking that is.

I believe there were games where I saw just that - mostly manifested by an apparently mindless possession game playing kick to kick down back, refusing to attack. I was bemused by how many seemed fooled by this; putting it down to Buck's fixated defensive GP. However, what was just as obvious to me was that when they flicked the switch to attacking mode, they could really run the ball fast and effectively to score well. What's more, I was surprised by the breadth of the young talent they had to bring in. Most of them stood up and did well to OK: the likes of Bianco, M.Lynch, Macrae, Poulter, Murphy, McCreery, Henry, Ginnivan. This was in in a team without arguably the best KPD in the comp, Moore, for most of the season and other injured key players at times.

But note: among other poor games and results, lost to WB only by 16, BL by 1, PA by 1, Freo by 12, StK by 9, Cats by 10 etc.
They beat Godeez in an effective 4Q performance for Buck's farewell. Then turned us over by one of the customary Q4 efforts they could turn on when given a pass to attack. This was the last game I could attend: I predicted the switch might get flicked to my son. Blitzed us in Q4.
They almost did the same to the Moggies; later beat WCE by 45. Only turned in 2 crap performances in last 2 games - who cares; no use trying. Caretaker coach; draft position conscious for Daicos2 etc.

Overall, like I said, think that now they're ready for a quick turnaround. They've got a solid coaching panel in on much lower $$, and cleared out 3 overpaid players, none of whom have proven huge losses (Stevenson good season but 'head' issues; Tredder's injury issues, Phillips average). They've cut some more deadwood. Then if you add those young players they got games into with a better season from Grundy and key mids, improved DeGooey and Cameron etc, Quanyor and Noble whom I rate, plus factor in the next Daicos kid, regrettably I don't think they will be down too long. Not with a quality, proven coach who can harness and utilize young talent especially like Fly at the helm.

I wish it wasn't so, but suspect we just witnessed a clever "re-positioning."

Absolutely. Collingwood have put together an A grade coaching panel. They have absolutely nailed it. Their stay in the lower reaches of the ladder will be very short lived I reckon.

What does a Director of Coaching do?
Earn good coin doing sweet FA.
Can't get sacked like at Brisbane.
Now Leppich is the saviour at the Lexus centre.
I thought Leppich said he was going away from football to concentrate on land/home management.
That quickly ended after the ph call from Wright

Their Board is functioning well

I honestly thought the debacle at the pies couldn’t get any worse. That is downright champagne comedy. Only photo of her related to footy and she was wearing a doggies jumper. That not really explained as to the Footscray/Collingwood connection? Maybe she was making a statement in support of Adam Treloar and wishing him all the best at the Dogs. Only recently joined as a member and appeared to be rushed onto the board. Possibly as a diversity statement particularly after the recent racism row. Not eligible to vote due to short term nature of membership and now won’t be voting at all. And every week there is another article highlighting the current battle behind the scenes,

Thank god it’s not us. For a change anyway.

She's a Dogs supporter, that's well known. Her mistake was not disguising this fact after joining the Collingwood board. Or at least not rubbing it in their faces.

A doggies supporter that somehow ended up on the Collingwood board. Bizarre.

I’ve just read the official statement by Korda:

“It is with regret that the Collingwood board (she didn’t even need to vote on this) has accepted the resignation of ex official director, Dr ‘Brodie O’Donnell. (bit more about the new job) The opportunity and duty before Birdie we understand and yet her departure is Collingwood’s loss. on behalf of the board I thank Bridie for her contribution to our club and wish her every success (‘that’s fair enough comment there re wishing her all the best).

The bit that gets me is the “contribution”. Dr O’Donnel has been there for 4 months…..16 weeks including the period since home and away season ended. Bit hard to see what the contribution would have been? in such a short period of time.

Anyway - it’s not us. Phew.

Therefore……why on earth would you go on the board of Collingwood? To pump up one’s resume perhaps?

Absolutely, power, publicity, influence. Also your input on sport science matters would be valued by boards. It would open other doors for you.

Can anyone in that group still play?
Because they have a very ordinary list
