Richard Austin? And David Murray, who is Everton Weekes' son (just learned this yesterday)?
Yeah, I just read that this morning. I haven't got to Austin yet. Lawrence Rowe, Alvin Kallicharan and Herbert Chang so far.

Don't read John Grishams the Reckoning. Must have been a contractual obligation. I know he isn't TJohn Mortimer but generally makes for escapist entertainment.

I stopped reading him 20 years ago.

To the Islands - Randolph Stow

Text Classics have a great strike rate and the yellow covers are only $10

this too obscure Aussie genius wrote this Pilbara kind of heart of darkness when he was 23.

im gonna work the Stow vein for a bit

I just got 'The Dark Remains' which was an unfinished prequel to William Mcilvanney's Laidlaw trilogy. I'm pretty excited to get into it. Mcilvanney is considered the father of 'Tartan Noir' and has also been referred to as the Scottish Camus. The unfinished book has been completed by Ian Rankin. Anyway I highly reccomend the Laidlaw trilogy-I reckon it would appeal to many PREers.

Tongerlongeter - Henry Reynolds and Nick Clements (2021)

an astonishing story of one of the greatest resistance leaders and warriors the world has seen, but nobody has ever heard of.

lead his people in a brutal frontier war for a decade against colonists, convicts and sealers in Tasmania.

An incredible story, superbly researched and written.

If you or someone you know is into proper Australian History, War History, Reconciliation, etc

this is a must read and a great gift.

Went to Hemingway’s home he lived in during the 30’s down in Key West a few years ago. It was really cool. What was even cooler was Sloppy Joe’s bar in town where he used to regularly write himself off at. I decided I must try and emulate his drinking efforts in there. I was reasonably successful….

Just read "All the Rage" by Paulie Stewart, Painters and Dockers

What a journey through Melbourne's golden era of rock n roll
Beer was cheap, carpets were sticky and ashtrays overflowing

Didnt realise his brother was one of the Balibo 5
