My father worked in the pharmaceutical industry. He always said that you could basically ignore the expiry dates on medicines-no problem. That would not necessary work with temperature sensitive vaccines in a developing country though.

So, i am going to Adelaide this weekend for the A-League. Just staying overnight. My first trip interstate in 9 months.

Over the weekend, the SA premier tightened borders a little because they are spooked by omicron. So now, when I land on Saturday, I have to get tested at the airport and stay in my hotel until I get the test results. Steven Marshall is claiming the turnaround time is 4-5 hours. I have changed my flight, so I land 2 hours earlier and I am hoping to get to the pub by mid-afternoon. But there is a real chance i could miss the game.

Anyway, my point is… If this was Victoria, the media would have gone into a frenzy. It would be on the front page and they would cry “Dictator Dan” and “We have to learn to live with COVID,” etc, etc.

But because its not Victoria (or perhaps it’s a Liberal state)… crickets.

I think its because the sub-editors can't think of any decent alliteration to go with Steve?

More likely no one gives a *smile* about SA and whether you can get in because most would prefer to get out of the state?

Omicron is still an unknown & I reckon if this had broken when Delta reared it's head we'd be back into lockdown by now but Covid fatigue is real. People everywhere are so over it now.

The only people that I feel sorry for in that article are the author and his medical colleagues that have to look after these idiots who won't take basic precautions to protect themselves. Those people will very obviously reap what they sow.
I'd add the children to that list.

The question I have is has society always generated this level of stupidity or are we witnessing a new normal catalysed by social media. I have a mix of empathy for all involved mixed with frustration/anger at these crazies but there has to be something off for people to willingly walk and fight for their right to walk off a cliff.

This makes me really sad.

What a sad indictment of the times we are living in.

A lot of this comes back to the old "fake news" agenda that Trump led with. Those people believed that, and they continue to believe that the media is pedalling lies to fit whatever agenda they want, and unfortunately this is the result. There is an element of brainwashing in all of this.

I call internet bull crap

1. As if you'de hold the bozos hand and talk about the bosom of Jesus, when you're at the end of your tether, and you dont believe in god yourself. you'de keep your distance, and sing a made up song about worms and the blackest black and nothingness. At best, you whistle Hank Williams

2. some psycho breaks your nose, theres no way you call the dogs off.

Here's the post on reddit. Click on the authors name and you see all his comments. And you can see his been posting from frontline COVID for a long time. He explains why he didn't call the cops. Not just the notoriety the idiots would get, but fear he would be doxxed and his family would be targeted by these ivermictidiots

I have said previously in posts , that the sad truth is some 10 % of humans are either mentally deranged or just plain stupid.
By stupid I mean idiotic, not of low IQ.

I know this from personal exposure and statistics of mental illness etc in the community.
It means that a lot of idiocy exists in the human world...social media gives it a voice.

Not included in this 10 % are those with inexplicable beliefs , political dogma, aggression and lack of insight.
To be honest, if we include lack of insight, it does not leave many at all.

The post above regarding idiotic behaviour and death from covid does not surprise.
It is sad but just human reality.

I often post how beautiful this world would be without humans at all...and I mean it.
Just wait until I and my family have moved on though.

It must have been a very beautiful place before human evolution.

It's not necessarily related to intelligence either - personality traits and cultural context also might predispose people towards rejecting the overwhelming weight of evidence and buying into fringe theories about vaccination being a form of social control and Ivermectin being a miracle cure for covid.
