Yes he pretty much said Mate Colina has already checked out mentally and is looking foward to coming to Richmond to concentrate on AFL and is excited about coming in a couple of months
Certainly hasn’t checked out, looks really fit and just had he highest score as a starting centre. Hopefully he can stay injury free and come back fit.

When i say he has checked out i actually mean he has come to accept he is not going to make it in big time basket ball and his future is in AFL. Mathew Clarke pretty much said he is coming back and looking foward to being a Richmond player

At that height you just have to be able to stand your ground and be semi-coordinated to have an impact. Sandilands made an AFL career out of being tall.

Looking forward to old Mate jamming the ball down the throats of RCD, Sonsie and the like. Going to need some tall forwards with sticky fingers with the ball streaming out of the middle.

you need body strength as well. Cox has the height, and coordination, but is too easy to move. Sandilands was strong.

Im very excited about what Colina will bring in 2 years time when he gets some VFL game time

He has played the game as a junior so is not a new comer to the AFL , Hoping he has some leap and agility and speed for his size

He will become a real weapon and is still only 22

I get the feeling that the coaches and recruiting staff are more excited about Mate than what they're showing publicly, but are toning it down so as not to add more pressure to the kid.

It’s an odd situation with Mate, signed in Sept 20 but not starting with us til early ‘22.

What do you conclude from that? He just wanted to complete his college degree then come home? No desire to try play NBA?

Possibly completing the studies? Pretty sure Collingwood had a go at trying to get him but said he had to upstakes and come home straight away whereas we said to finish his degree first.

May have been said on here, but if not, he is 213 cms, which in feet and inches is 6.11.86 or just short of 7 feet tall. What a monster. Not sure of his weight.

He's big. Dion comes up to about his kneecap.

He told the Tigers and Pies that he wanted to finish his studies over there before committing to footy. Pies told him it was now or never, Tigers said no prbs.
He could probably play in minor leagues around the world, but actually getting paid is the risk. Heaps of stories of Australian basketball and soccer players going overseas to play/coach and never getting paid or having to beg for a portion of what they were owed. Rolling the dice on AFL a much safer option.
