C'mon Kong, time to hop off the high horse old son. If PRE was around in Bartlett's day you would have called for him to be delisted for being soft every time we were three goals down.

And I'd say it's more embarrassing for you to be lecturing anyone about the tone of their posts.
I can feel the heat from that burn up here in Queensland.

Not old enough to remember, but didn't Michael Green get BOG in every finals game in 1969?
If we had Norm Smiths in those days I reckon Billy Barrot would have won it in 1969.
Green had a great final series for sure
KB would have been in our best 3-4 in the 69 grannie

Try harder to remember mate.

There are six GFs in which Bartlett played inclusive of five premierships.

LTRTR would have had the handball stats at the ready by now.

As KB used to say he thought about handballing a lot, and it's the thought that counts

There’s the Kong every one knows and loves. Hence the reason so many smash the like button and ring the bell to subscribe to your channel (I might be a little confused with the ignore button).

Personally I don’t use the ignore button. I enjoy your contribution to the game day thread.

I love you Kong. Chin up. Things will get better.

Thanks. Thought the poll showed the individuals who were all for penalising Dustin, otherwise it’s a matter of scrolling through pages I guess.
yeah I'm operating from memory, can't be arsed actually going back and reading all that again.

There’s not a sport in the world where the fans don’t generally under and overrate their players as humans . If they’re a star , they can get away with mass murder, if they’re a reserves standard player they can get crucified for nearly letting their parking metre run out . At punt rd alone some of our whipping boys have been quality young men , some of the AFLs elite players have been known to be incredibly unpopular with others .

IMHO KB couldn’t have done more for the Tigers on field over his 403 games , as for he’s next 20 odd years he didnt do a great deal of good for our club .

Just because a player has been a star onfield for the club , dosent mean they’ll be the perfect role model

Certainly as far as forwards go, which is what KB was in 1980 his final series is hard to beat.

Dusty has 3 Norm Smith's and 3 Gary Ayres medals, that's pretty hard to beat.

Dusty's unselfishness sets him apart though, him urging Marlion to get into position for Dusty to kick it to him still stirs my emotions...............and then the goal wow !!!

Both champions, but I can't remember KB dishing off any goals in that 1980 GF.
KB dished off to Rowlings in the last qtr of the 1980 GF to give him a goal. Was surprised he did, as KB could have kicked it himself.

He was nicknamed ‘Hungry’, and he was, but he’s deliberately played it up as part of his post football media profile.

Inevitably, in the off-season we consider conundrums like trying to rate football's freaks of nature. It's a nice problem to have, to try to weigh up two ornaments to our great game. KB is a massive element of five flags. Dusty is the architect of three. I suggest we leave the jury out until Dusty finishes his career. He might win us another two! Or God forbid, he might finish up at the Swans...

That’s my spin on it. We’re lucky that we get to see Dusty do what he does best. And we as Tigers are doubly blessed that he does it while representing our club. I don’t think he’ll go elsewhere, either. The one club career thing seems to be important to him. Hopefully in a couple of seasons he’ll pass the 300 game milestone, becoming only the 5th Richmond player to do so.

I'm grateful for both of them. I only started going to the footy at the tail-end of KB's career when he was stationed as a forward pocket, but so glad I saw him play.

He was so good in that role, too. Kicked over 70 goals in ‘80.

He was the Coach during the Save our skins campaign and played a big part in that. It was really after he got sacked that it went pear shaped

He was let go because he wasn’t a very good coach. I know it’s semantics, but he wasn’t actually sacked, either. They chose to not renew his contract, because he couldn’t improve the team with what he had to work with. He used his position in the media to promote the sacked ‘myth’. He was a great player, it is true, but if they gave out awards for grudge holding he would have won all of them. Great player, flawed individual. There are some very illuminating comments about KB in the book The Hafey Years from team mates, and he was also the only past player who refused to participate in the book when asked.

There are many examples of elite sportspeople who have major personality flaws. Sometimes the total tunnel vision, or the win at all costs attitude are what makes them freaks. I have no trouble separating their sporting prowess from their personal flaws. The Jordan/Bulls doco didn't show Michael in the best light, but it showed why the Bulls were so successful.

Bradman is a good example, wasn't generally liked by his teammates, kept to himself but as Keith Miller once said, you don't p!ss on a monument.
