I'm just calling out a policy that encouraged young girls and junkies to get pregnant so they could get a 5k lump sum.
Sure this was very handy to a lot of families and it has given them a lot of joy.

But is has also meant a life of misery for too many children, who born into this world for the wrong reasons. $$$$$

I'll share my experience with this. A mates daughter who I have known since she was a baby, got married and had 3 daughters.
The marriage failed and she got into a relationship with a deadbeat junkie. She got into the drugs, lost custody of her kids and vanished.
About 10 years later she showed up at my mates (her fathers) place........................with another 5 children !!!!! The kids were feral.
To cut a long story short, this put a lot of stress on my mate and he died of a heart attack.

I just hope the grandmother who was raising this poor little 9 year old was able to show her some love and give her some joy in her short little life.

Did birth rates increase whilst the baby bonus policy was open?

Actually just found this article. Seems the stats from the ABS don't backup your assumption that this increased teenage and single mum pregnancies.

Not everything is the Libs' fault, that's silly. Just the stuff that's happened after John Howard was elected.

I always found it grating to listen to that smug prick, Andrew O’Keefe acting as such a know all expert on violence against women in a particularly preachy, Holier Than Thou tone.

As it turns out, he clearly is more of an expert - in the most practical sense - than any of us. Sanctimonious twat!

Terrible form on the surface of it. If proven guilty I hope he spends a long time in jail.

Should have already spent time in jail to keep women safe from his actions. And so he can feel the full extent of the deserved shame he should feel for such actions. Not like he doesn’t have prior form.

But that would require accountability being applied to the individual who carried out such offending. And in a world that finds the concepts of personal responsibility and accountability abhorrent. Instead, the rest of us are all assumed as potential women abusers and incessantly, patronisingly preached at in blunt instrument campaigns, designed to make us feel apologetic and shameful for being male, as well as partially responsible for the actions of pricks like O’Keefe (or the likes of evil *smile* like Adrian Bayley, James Todd and Rowan Baxter).

What this culture actually does is absolves in part, the responsibility and accountability on those individuals who carry out abuse against women and distributes it collectively to all unassociated men - most who wouldn’t dream of doing such things. Personally, I’d preferred to have seen the likes of Bayley and Todd hung with a noose.

Note also that Andrew O’Keefe is from a very wealthy, very privileged background. His father was a Supreme Court Judge. He went to school at an elite Sydney private school, then studied arts/law at a sandstone university (University of Sydney). After a short period working in law he landed very lucrative positions in the entertainment and media industries. I wonder if he were Jo Average - without the monetary and social network backing O’Keefe has - with a pattern of behaviour like his, if he wouldn’t have already spent time in the slammer.

But but but. There's suggestions on the news tonight that he's pleading self defence. Poor little petal musta been confronted by a serious case of PMT rage n was unable to escape.

Yep sounded like he has some form of mental issue and/or addiction issues.
He has fried his brain.
Will probably get off because of unsound mind.
I've had a gut full of people ruining their lives, their family and friends lives from drugs and then pleading unsound mind.

"Expert reports presented in court stated that O’Keefe suffered from methamphetamine use disorder, historical addiction issues, complex post traumatic stress disorder and depressive disorder, Magistrate Williams said."
