Thought he was ok. Kicked 2.. should’ve kicked 3. Gets horrendous supply most of the time. His ability to halve a contest set up two goals in the first and the Bolton goal in the last… For some reason we refuse to go quickly when he is one out.
We can't kick coming inside fifty.
*Aarts panic merchant
*Castagna noone knows where it will go
*Pickett and flappers I've seen under 12's kick better.
*Baker is a massive butcher.
*Lynch is at his best leading directly at the ball.
*Riewoldt and Cotchin need a warm cupper and a Robe.
*Ross and Graham were like the 6 million dollar man everything was in slow motion.
How slow is Graham?, his legs are moving but his body isnt travelling anywhere.
Bolton how good is this kid?
I was rapted with Cubcis. Looks top quality
Tarrant did ok.
Short and Rioli just don't defend 1 on 1.
Ralphsmith cost me a tv. Running through the guts no pressure and butcher's the inside 50, where was Jack or Lynch leading to him??
We selected top heavy. No run.
Lucky Collier dawkins wasn't playing he wouldve been at top of the list.

Dusty led to Ralphsmith, was simple
Lack of composure by Ralph. Dusty cracked it afterward too

Jack barely jumped at the footy all night. He was woeful before the thumb injury

Which means Tom is competing against 2, sometimes 3 blokes in the air most times. He still presents and still halves contests.

Early days, and insipid midfield delivery after Dion went off, but I'm hoping Teague has made more progress in Forward 50 structure than what we saw last night

Yeah I'm hoping our skills and kicking improved last year was a disappointing.

Started very well. But no coincidence his influence dropped off when our midfield was made to look second rate.

This and the fact that we didn't have anyone buzzing at his feet when he did bring it to ground at dangerous spots, particularly once Baker went further up the ground.

Pretty sure Jack's thumb injury occurred in the first 10 mins of the game.

Thought Tom was caught playing from behind too often and wasn't timing his leads.

I thought the forward line looked ok in the first quarter too. Don't understand why Balta was not forward from the start, I like 3 talls, the way we bomb it in 3 talls looks like a good idea.

Tell you what would help Lynch.

If we implemented the stuff we spent all summer working on to address the forward line issues instead of abandoning it as soon as the first game starts.

The only time the forward line looked functional was the patch in the third quarter when Balta went forward but we had Riewoldt with a busted thumb by then.

If we'd done that from the start we would have won that game, nothing surer. Should have played Miller if needed.

Either very dumb or very arrogant coaching.
Couldn't understand that all the talk of a new setup etc yet we looked for most the game exactly as 2021.

I said it in the Hardwick thread, it wasn’t his finest night in the coaches box.

Yep, as soon as we named Balta back after training all preseason forward, I felt uneasy.

Can't agree with. Smashed in centre in the last wouldn't have mattered who was forward.

Not early they weren't. We dominated first term but our old forward line issues were on display as well. If Balta was forward we easily could have dismantled them in the same way we did Hawthorn and been 5 or 6 up at quarter time.
Probably should have used one of these :)) ;)

The problem is there seems like there’s no space in F50…maybe with just Lynch and Balta there will be more space, and get Stack and Shai at the fall of the ball. Shai is needed in the centre bounce so Stack needs to come in I think. Get George leading out to the flanks and out of F50.

I have to say, out forwards could separate a lot better, I reckon there is room for all 3, maybe Jack a little further up the ground at half forward but seeing more than 1 of our tall forwards in the same marking contest is not good. We separate, the defenders have to separate.

Reckon Noah had a fairly dirty night, struggled to mark, was *smile* when he tried to ruck n generally had nil impact on the game.
