averaging 30 disposals, 8 clearances to R5. 26y/o.

5th in the comp for contested possessions
1st for centre clearances
2nd for total clearances
2nd for effective disposals
8th for score involvements
in the comp.

26y/o. Free agent. 4x450.

Is our cap chockers?

Good call Spook.

Considering that he is a 2 way runner, surprised that he was overlooked seeing how much we value this trait.

Seems that Tarrant got what was remaining in our cap.

Looks like we missed out on Will Brodie as well. Killing it at Freo.

I'll admit that I wasn't a fan when he was at the GC but he has proven me wrong. Same with Peter Wright. Doing well at the Bombres. Both with cheap picks.

GC are a development graveyard.

Must be other under performing top picks we can get on the cheap from there.

James Worpel... I'd be making the call to his agent. Would walk into our midfield.

Classic example of a very good player that doesn’t seem to be valued by a new coach or doesn’t fit into their plans.
Ripe for the picking.

Yep. They were saying yesterday that he's behind their newer midfielders. Good get IMO.

Hewett is not a Richmond player, he can’t kick over a jam tin.

Both were salary dumps we were not in any position to take on. Not to mention they were very unproven AFL footballers in terms of fitting into a successful team structure.

They are both going well at the moment, but let’s see when the stakes get higher.

Good call. We’ve had the “Worpel’s” of our list targeted by opposition clubs for the last five years and it’s definitely taken a toll. Time to return the favor on the rest of the comp.

Cotchin, Lambert and Baker are Richmond players.

Baker kicks 50+ both feet and is a very good kick in all circumstances so I am not sure why he is on your list there. Cotchin and Lambert are not big kicks but they can hit targets at speed going forward. If you watch Hewett he just chips a lot of kicks safely sideways because he is not a great kick. Definitely not a long kick. This is why he is on 4 x $450k and seem a bargain midfielder. He has a glaring weakness in his game that you will see ruthlessly exposed in big games.

The beauty of a contested ball machine who accumulates, is that he denies the opposition getting it.
He doesn’t have exquisite skills, but he doesn’t turn it over.
He’s a missing link in our arsenal

Hmmmm….

Worpel in 55% game time yesterday won 14 disposals after coming on fresh early second term. Not bad, not great, but reasonable.

His 7 effective disposals and 7 ineffective disposals, less good.

His 46th ranked of 46 players who played in the game disposal efficiency rate of 42.9%, less good again. Worryingly less good. Zero goals, zero goal assists, 3 score involvements.

5 tackles, big tick, that is good.

Worpedo as he is affectionately known, he is the missing link in our arsenal if we want to aim at Tasmania and hit the South Pole. Or worse still, get intercepted by King Island and rebounded over our heads to the Cape York Peninsula.

Worpel is a 23yo who for whatever reason had a good season in 2019, but all around that his numbers don’t add up and he doesn’t seem to be improving his weaknesses. I don’t rate him at all and I have watched loads of their games.

Cerra, Hewitt, Brodie, Lipinski. We weren’t linked to any. We couldn’t possibly think our midfield was set.

We had no cap space. With a couple of vets moving on and potentially but hopefully not Dusty, we must be in the market for mids. Our cap space must be improved.
