Him and Maurice need to stay in together and get the chemistry right.... Let's face it, who would we prefer with ball in hand or not, Syd or Matt Parker?
He looked pretty nervous lastnight but I hope Dimma gives him a chance to settle.

Stack was put in to pressure… and was the best pressure player on the ground..
Yeah I notiiced the pressure work of he and Maurice , I thought the two of them added something in that dept that had been missing

Oh East Melbourne!
Very interesting. Dimma will have liked that a lot. It's what he's primarily asked of him.
Yep thought he was a big contributor in bringing back the high fwd pressure we were so used to seeing in the glory years… but 5 touches and 0 goals doesn’t help his case. I’d play him over Edwards…. But can’t see it.

Yeah but Ross didn't play in the forward pocket on a night where our key forwards dominated.

Stack is twice the player Ross is
I did notice that Stack attended some centre bounces later in the game.

I want The 2019 version of Stack back but that player is still a few weeks away.

Syd the obvious out for Dusty next week.

You must be kidding.

Persist. Ran hard defensively, was alert and engaged.

Just didn’t get the bounce. Happens.

Critical we keep playing him.

Not saying he wasn't trying but he was out of sync with the play last night, looked gassed early. Agree you can have a quiet one as a small forward and I don't like bringing players in for only 1 game and then out but if no injuries and Cotch & Dusty back then who.
Doubt it will be JNR after 3 goals.

Career-best game?

Played the small game. Hopelessly overawed early then robbed twice by AFL product ambassadors.

Worked again and eventually found the handle a couple of times. Grew in physical confidence too. Will attack harder in the air next week.

Sydney wants to play in the ones. In a preeemiership. That’d be alright.

Thought he was good defensively. Couldn't believe though the number of times he completely missed the flight of the ball going for marks. Will improve I think and, at this stage, prefer him in the side ahead of an Edwards.

Don't know about best but Stack with 18 pressure acts and MRJ with 17 certainly made a huge difference to forward half pressure. Really need to see though how they go against a better structured defence that know how to play keepings off.

Keep him in the side and allow him the time to build up fitness, form and confidence.

No guarantees but at this stage it’s a small price to pay for potential long term benefit.

What’s a pressure act? Running 5 meters behind your man?
He had 5 touches at 40% effective .
Pressure Act (Physical): Applying direct physical contact to a player in the act of disposing of the ball or effecting a tackle that prevents an effective disposal from the ball carrier.

Hardwick would have been very pleased with Stacks game I reckon - chased and pressured all game. It's what you must do to get a game in Hardwicks fwd line - sacrifice your game and possession count for the team. Rioli did it for 5 years. Selection will be interesting this week as dropping him will send mixed messages. But not sure who makes way for Cotchin Martin and Pickett otherwise.

I think you're right re Dimma, but I'm not sure Stack survives just based on that. Needed to finish his work (like MRJ), and make himself impossible to drop.

That's it. Cotch/Dusty/Pickett look like minimum to come back so 3 need to go out. Where does Stack fit in the pecking order?

We are beyond gifting games this season, we have a chance to recover our season so players should be picked on form only.

RCD and Stack should make way for Dusty and Cotch.
Ummm. What form has Dusty got this year?????

If we're just picking the best player, I'm dropping MoJu before I'm dropping Stack. He had a good one last night against *smile* competition (with help from Stack), but I don't think he's quite yet at the level against the big boys.
