Just on the media I listened to Brian Taylor’s interview on the talking tigers podcast. I’m not BT fan as a commentator but the interview is great. Well worth a listen. On the website
Brilliant interview - loved it.

I thought it was a little disappointing. Didn't really delve into why he left and expand on his playing career. THey avoided the usual questions they ask guests because BT has no real love for Richmond.

The podcast is not really about that sort of stuff jb, its a session where old players do a fluffy piece. In that sense BT was a strange choice but given what you say I thought the interview was great.

FWIW , to be honest BT had legitimate grievances, there is no doubt he should have played in the 1982 Grand final. It not only may have lost us a premiership it probably lost us a 10 year quality full forward

Nah, we had a ten year quality FF in Roach and that's why it was never Gunna work with he and BT.

BT kicked 71 goals in 15 games in 1982 and Roach kicked 38 playing further up the ground and in the ruck
Astonishing decision imo but its all in the past

Interesting comment about he and Cloke. I reckon you're right.

Watson's legend as a dumb arse was enhanced last night...

Apparently that taking the legs out wasn't a free to Balta.

He said something else as equally dumb later on but I cant even remember that.

He speaks and i think of this.

I enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised about his strong affection and admiration for Roachy as a person and a player.

I've seen similar argued by lots of people before with that rule.

People always come back to but they were going for the ball/first to the ball but don't realise the issue is with leaving your feet. Bend down and pick it up, don't dive at it.

BT only gave pies 4.5 years before he became injury prone.
Disco had three solid years after BT left before he broke down.

Today we would have worked harder to keep and integrate both but the war was on.

Out there in them there hills where banjo playing, makin' moonshine and 'fooling' with ones closest of relatives is part of everyday life...... Robbo has taken time away over the bye to write a love letter to the saviours of the game!

He lost me at game saviour 1..... Steve Hocking

He’s also contradicted himself in the article. Spent a fair bit at the start praising SHocking for “saving” the game with his rule changes. Then proceeds to say “ But before the rule changes- mainly 6-6-6 and the stand rule- there was Richmond. What a breathtaking team the Tigers have been. Their brand is described as chaos. It’s chaotically beautiful. Win it, move it forward, run, share it, repeat “
He is basically saying that we played great football, which is what footy fans want to see ( with any club) but praising the idiot that has brought in rules to nobble our style of game

This "AFL Sycophant" as some on these boards claim him to be, has been complaining about this system for years and said it will cost a final when it was introduced.

Here's his take, that the AFL are wrong.

9 putting in a massive $500m per year offer for FTA and streaming rights for the AFL.

Not sure if it is the same but the system used to be that 7 had the right of last offer and other groups used to launch huge offers just to make them pay.

Fun and games until the year Seven said no and left 9 to pay.
