Another great game by Shai. There's soo much brilliance that when he makes mistakes they stand out.
He was a big difference the game turned when we needed him. The X Factor is invaluable.
True. His ability to be one-touch clean with the greasy ball was freakish and so important in centre clearances, and led to crucial goal assists.
He and Bakes are elite in that regard.
In the past month Shai has been showing signs of lairising and not doing the simple basics right, and I have been anticipating the coaching staff would be assisting him to rectify this - his show and go last night provides the platform for discussion.

It's like he killed someone. Where were these whinges when Divvyvan and Wingard did it last week!!
Agree I think the difference was McCrae & Mitchell had a bit of a laugh and supported their players whereas Dimma publicly decried Shai's gesture so you get the headlines like, 'Hardwick Rebukes Bolton For Taunt'

I’m guessing the reason dimma went hard is that part of the Richmond man mantra is to respect your opponents and be humble. Showboating like they doesn’t tick this box. Plenty of ways to celebrate without doing that.

If you think about it - when an opponent in a game did something like this it usually galvanised the whole team. On the other hand when a player is just good and beats you
comprehensively but still looks you in the eye and says well played you just respect them and almost expect to lose.

Barrett paid out on Hardwick for his response on his afl podcast today. He doesn’t get it.

Once Bolton did it the blues almost rallied over the top of us and you can imagine Bolton would have been the first to hear about it if they won. It will also probably be stuck on the Carlton lockers the next time we play them for disrespecting them.

Well said and the comments from McIntosh and Nankervis certainly backed this up as well which says a fair bit in itself.

They have done nothing for 30 years and cheated to winning flags.
*smile* them

Emotions were high after the melee when he showed the ball. To Shai's credit he apologised to Docherty after the game. End of.
I'd probably rather he didn't do it but no real concern. That said I deadset would have :vomitif he had have missed the easy goal while doing it.

Good on him though for apologising to Docherty.

That's right and they're still carrying on with this whinge. How come they don't mention the apology to Docherty?

I don't think the action even requires an apology.

That's just dumb. Players jump around and get in the faces of opposition after kicking goals all the time. No one apologises for that.

In actuality, it's more courageous to do it before the goal.

But Dimma was absolutely right to call him out for a non Richmond like behaviour.

We have a set of guiding principles, that require buy in.

Culture is such a difficult thing to foster, and such an easy thing to degrade.

I thought Doherty lost sight of where the ball was and was looking up everyone ar$e trying to find it so Bolton just did him a favour, the gentlemanly thing, and showed him where it was.

Not a fan of what he did , but the part I did like , I was worried Shai was going into his shell and lacking a bit of self confidence ,

he plays his best when he is the extrovert , just needs to channel it a bit differently
